View Full Version : Pass-Key Failure -- how to fix?

Not sure this is the right forum, but the pass-key system is a security thing, so I took my best guess.

The problem is this: the pass key system on my 99 DeVille has failed. No visible damage to my key (the only I have, by the way), so I'm told it's most probably the circut in the ignition. The circut costs 68 bucks but they told me it'd be 255 for labor... I don't have 255. I want to find out if someone who is essentially a car retard could fix it himself with some instruction.

If it's not overly complex, could some walk me through the steps and tell me what tools I'd need? If it is a complex thing, could someone let me know whether 255 sounds like a rip?

Thanks a lot,
Pete

Look guys, my caddy is sitting there in my driveway and I don't have a car. If no one knows, can someone say so and tell me if the price is decent?

Check the Seville and Eldo forum. There is a current open thread named "Starting disabled" with posts dealing with this issue.
