I have a 1984 Fleetwood RWD. Sometimes it starts ok and sometimes it acts like it is flooded. After running it and then shutting it off, it will not start and that is when it really acts like it is flooded and you can smell gas. I ran the codes and 52 came up. I have that as "ECM Memory Reset Indicator". That is the only code and the other diagnostic checks looked ok. I cleared the trouble codes and it actually seems to run better. My question is, what does the code 52 mean, and any ideas what my problem could be? Thanks.

Nope, code 52 just states that the memory was reset (by disconnecting the power).
This is an informational only code and it most likely indicates that you have disconnected the battery (or unplugged some connectors) a short while ago.

Isn't it funny how the 80s 4.1l computers never seem to indicate any engine problems even when you know there is one ... :banghead:

I'm dealing with my own issues too... But the computer thinks my engine is just fine...
:hmm:

Thanks for the reply.

I ran the car today and then ran the codes again. This time I got code 15, Open Coolant Sensor Circuit. What kind of symptoms are associated with this code?
Thanks.

Coolant temperature info is critical for the computer to set timing & fuel mixtures. Without good coolant sensor info, the engine will probably run real crappy.

Make sure the sensor connector is making good contact first.

Thanks for the reply. I will check it to see if it is making good contact.
Thanks.
