I'm thinking about putting new sneakers on my 88. Does anyone have any suggestions? The Michelins that I have on the car now have good tread depth but are showing some dry rot due to age. Leaning towards a Cooper but am open to anything but preferably domestic.

When I had the stock tires, I ran the Goodyears and they were really great tires, especially on the highway. I don't get snow, but they were awesome in the rain.
Peace,

Thanks Chief. I'm considering some Continetals. They have a decent speed rating an dthey look good.

I'm not aquainted with any Allante owners who have ran Continentals on their car. But a friend of mine, who owns a 5 Series BMW, has gone through two sets of them and was very disappointed about how quickly they wear. That's the only personal knowledge I have about them, but if you go to Tire Rack you can read lots of testimonials on most of the popular brands.

I'm with Chief, Tire rack is a great place to read tire comparisions. Pot of coffee and an hour of reading. can't be beat. Based on what I read on tire rack, I bought Kuhmos as they were described as having a nice balance of performance and low road noise. Checked Sleazebay and happened to find a set for less than $300 delivered in two days.
Three summer seasons (Chief do wish I didn't see snow) at 3-4000 miles per and I couldn't be happier with performance and negligible tire wear.
Good hunting!

'No snow' not only makes it easier to keep your car clean, but it also provides you with a national base of cold state buyers when you sell it. The last car I sold was to a guy from Cleveland who flew out, paid cash, and drove it home. "I just love the internet!" :2thumbs:

I'm running Michelin Pilot Exaltos. They have been fine.

Good choice, I've probably bought a half dozen sets of Michelin's on different cars and I never had any problems associated with them.
