I'll try with Clone DVD or some other tools I have to make a personal backup copy. I can't imagine it would be very difficult, regardless of any protection scheme.

I remember reading that the problem had to do with the size of the DVD.

I don't believe there is a copy protection issue (but I could be wrong) the NAV DVD I have has about 7.5 gig of data on it. I have the older (what used to be standard) single layer ~4.7gig DVD burner, they now have dual layer burners (~9gig) available. I assume I can burn it to 2 DVD's but then neither would work properly in the car, but I would have the data backed up. Just never bothered to try, no real reason.

Duh, I hadn't thought of that. I only have had the DVD out of the car once when I first got it. I will look into that.

I remember reading that the problem had to do with the size of the DVD.You are correct sir!

Unless someone knows speficially how to delete any regions and not affect it's ability to work I think you'll need to burn with a dual layer.

Okay, so you need a dual layer DVD and Dual Layer discs, correct?

I just went down to grab my DVD out of the car, stuck it in my PC, it's ~7.91g and doesn't have obvious sections for US/Canada. I'll look in at it some more and see if I can't figure out what parts to leave out.

Here is the Core info:

Region information N/A not a DVD-VIDEO
Media code/Manufacturer ID N/A Pressed DVD
Format Type UDF 1.02
Volume Name MAP_DVD
Application id
Implementation id Daikin U.S. Comtec Lab

Success!

Atleast burning the disc. I was able to burn a copy of the disc to a dual layer disc. We'll see if it worked tomorrow! :D
