Hey guys. 3 times over the last week and a half (twice yesterday...) when i go out to the Caddy its been dead. First time the power locks worked when i got in, then complete power failure for about 90 seconds, then it started up fine (except for the starter barking a little bit, its going to have to replaced relatively soon. I wonder if there is a connection?). yesterday, all power was kaput when I got in the car- had to reach over and manually unlock the door for my passenger:banghead: ...the car remained powerless, as if the battery was dead, until I popped the hood and looked at the battery...it seemed fine so i get in the car a viola its back...however the AC sensor said it was 112 outside (it was more like 85) and slowly dropped to a more realistic assesment as we drove. Then the third time last night, as i was going home I got in the car fine, but just as I started to turn the ignition the power dispeared. I popped the hood and since the light came on, tried to ignition again and it was all good. I went out this morning to check the diagnostic codes and didnt seem to find anything relevent...P052 "PCM memmory reset" HISTORY, P109 "KAM reset" HISTORY, S060 & S061 "right & left position sensor" HISTORY (i asume this is the reaSON I GET THE "SERVICE ride controll" message all the time.)
Anyhow I have an extended warranty and im going to call them about it but Id prefer to have a clue as to what the hell is going on first. Although this is probably unrelated, the driver side window died recently- it made a funny sound then stopped functioning. I was going to have the warranty company take care of it but had not yet gotten around to it; I havnt actually had them do any work for me yet.

Any ideas on whats happening (maybe a faulty fuse or something?) or sugestions would be highly valued. Thanks.

Mike

yeah, this is where the thread belongs :) .. check the other one though.
They actually look clean but usally need a good scrubbing. Don't let that junk get in your eyes either. Another safty tip: disconnect the negative(black) first, else you'll get shocked. Takes maybe 15 minutes to do this.

this may sound like a dumb question, but ive never actually removed or disconnected a battery before, how do i remove the cables from the terminals? They seem pretty securely hooked on there, is there some sort of release procedure or do you just have to pull on them?...after poking around under the hood Im not sure how to remove the cables from the terminal heads... I got the crossbeam out of the way but the battery is still wedged in there pretty good and id rather avoid getting shocked while trying to figure it out myself...

You'll need socket wrench, unloosen the two bolts. First the Negative cable then the Positive, that way you wont get shocked. The reason is, The negative is grounded to the car.. so if you were to touch the car and the red one. zap. If you disconnect the Negative first. its no longer a closed circuit and you're safe.

You're not really wanting to remove the battery, just the two cables the are bolted onto it (red & black) i think its a 8mm or 10mm socket.

Once you have them removed, take the wire brush and scrub them all over to remove the battery acid. the battery acid prevents a clean connection.

Black cable first, then red ... give me a minute to wake up and all go take a picture
