hey ppl,


my 4.9 (91 seville) started running really nasty a couple of weeks ago. it wasnt consistent, as in i htink i had a misfire (or two). when idling it vibrated real bad, it had no power, and around 1900-2400rpm it vibrated very bad. i took it in for a tune up, but it still ran the same (and the fu*kers charged me 110 for a serpentine belt, change of plugs, and air filter). anyways, i changed the distributor cap and rotor, and wires myself and it runs a LOT better, but the vibration is still there, but nowhere nearly as much, and the power is still absent. also, there still is no consitency in the conbustion, there seems to be a pause every .5 secs (listening to the exhaust), so i think i still have a missfire. the fu*kers at the shop didnt even do timing checks i bet.

i know its a lot of info, but any ideas? I LOVE MY CADDY, AND I NEED IT BACK ASAP!

Unfortunately, your Caddy is VERY much prone to ignition miss-fires due to anything less than PERFECT ignition secondary connections. I would suggest that you have a good mechanic that knows how to use a scope, check the ignition system and either pin-point the problem, or clear the system as a possible cause of the issue.

dude you got a good deal, those belts are about $50, the plugs or recommended plugs are $8 a peice. hopefully they kept the old belt in the truck incase yours new one fails in the middle of nowhere, thats always a good idea.

8/piece?!?!?! not even bosch +4 platinums are that much (4.99 each), and they used regular single electrode bosch platinums (1.15/piece). but yeah the belts are like 40-50. also, whats a scope? a timing light? :-D hehe

What i bought were a/c delco plugs that are 100,000 mile plugs like the factory puts in, this should be your only option, i guess the book i saw ddint list any other brands. But they were $8 each.

He's talking about "Platinum" plugs and they CAN be expensive. I was talking about an ocilliscope (probably spelled wrong). They are used to diagnose ignition systems.

Unlike the infiniti engines <which require you to use the NGK factory plugs>, most other platinum tipped plugs will work, but you may need to replace them sooner.......
