Anyone else getting this? The computer locks up. A window pops up with the above title. The message says "A script on this page may be busy or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script or you can continue to see if it will complete". When I click the stop button, the computer unlocks and continues. It happens with almost every entry. Is it the site or my computer (at work)? Very annoying. :annoyed:

Sounds like your computer at work might have ActiveX scripting disabled or blocked.

Whatever that is. :hmm: It has never happened before that I can remember. I was on a different computer than I normally am. I'll just see what happens when I go back tomorrow.

Still getting it here only. I called one of the IT guys over and he thinks it is because we are running Lenux and it might have something to do with advertising on this site. Maybe even advertising viruses.

It seems to happen when using the back button more than anytime else.

EDIT: Disregard. It's also happening when refreshing the page.

YaY! I get to tell Ranger something he DIDNT know on this forum!

Odds are that ActiveX is being disabled, the fact that the server is running LINUX(Nice try though :D) shouldn't have to do with anything.

Try using a proxy and see if that helps. *Proxies are normally not condoned by employers, please use at your own risk*:hide:

If the proxy doesnt work, I'd guess it would most likely be the advertisements. While it may not seem like a big deal, the php and html format might send off flags on your employers web surfing restrictions.

And if all else fails... Use your phone! I surf these forums on my phone all the time, especially in class when Im bored.:sneaky:

One other thing that might be causing this is the browser you are using. Are you using IE7, Firefox, Opera, Safari, or any other browser? Narrowing this down can help track down the source of your problems.

Also, check to make sure that your network is allowing cookies, I know that my school currently is cracking down on that so I am forced to go through a proxy at my school in order to access this website.

But, if worst comes to worst, just wait to answer all our 'n00b' questions on N*s till when you get home. Even though everyone wants you or Submariener to answer them .01 seconds after being posted. ;)

Lemme know if any of the suggested ideas work, I am not a pro at computers but I do know my way around them. I'll try my best to help ya out as you always do for me over in the Seville/ElDorado Forums.

I'm not computer illiterate. I'm computer stupid. No clue how to do that.

And if all else fails... Use your phone!
I'm also a cave man. My phone is at home on the wall.

Are you using IE7, Firefox, Opera, Safari, or any other browser?
Firefox

Also, check to make sure that your network is allowing cookies,
No clue if it allows cookies, but I have figured this out. If after reading a thread I hit the back button, I WILL get the message. If I go to the bottom of the page and click on the GO button to reload the forum. I WILL NOT get the message.

Well it seems that you have solved your own problem!

A proxy can be slightly difficult to use depending on the type, try using this one... vee tunnel dot com (not typing it out literally to avoid any complications with any TOA's)

Just go to that website, type in the cadillac forums URL (www.cadillacforums.com/forums/) and hit Surf!. If your computer comes up with a 'blocked' webpage hit back type out the address again and this time try a secure connection to the website using this address https:// <---- put that in front of the proxy address and it should let you in. Some companies have been getting smarter with security so it may be blocked also.

Good luck let me know how everything goes!

Not sure if I understand all that, but I'll try when I get back to work, which won't be for a week or so. Thanks for the help. Apparently I'm the only one having this problem.

Ok, no problem after all the times you've helped me its nothing really.

After quickly snooping around on google I came to this article - http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/warning+Unresponsive+script

Try some of those things (mainly the YesScript addon), when you get the chance also.

I'd get more information on it but I just took my ACT today and am taking the PSAE tomorrow, need to hit the hey so I have a decent amount of sleep. :D

Hope ya get it workin'!

teh Ranger's computer woes continue...

since I know where you work, and I know they have serious firewalls setup there, I am thinking that has something to do with it. Corporate firewalls dont like websites like this, and they see about 85% of the data as a threat. Be fortunate you are even getting connected to CF.com.

There was a short period where I could not get on this site, but that did not last long. Funny part is that it worked just fine for years, then this, all of a sudden. Guess I'll just live with it or wait for it to go away just like it appeared.

It is very likely your IT dept made changes without telling anyone.

Wondered what happened to you there for couple days. Glad u r okay except for this problem.
For your Firefox, try this. click on the tools at top of browser, select Options. uncheck the box "ENABLE JAVA SCRIPT" if it is selected. Try that. Otherwise there is an add-on for Firefox that is a must for safe surfing called "NO SCRIPT" that most Firefox users can't live without.

I had to log some cockpit time Monday and Tuesday. Was In Minneapolis on Monday night.

Ain't no "Options" in the tools at the top. Can't see anywhere else to disable Java. I don't think I can load any add ons at work. Don't have that at home either, probably because I don't know what it is.

Today it's happening more often and I can't even work around it. It's getting to be a real PITA.

EDIT:
Found it in preference in the edit button. Disabled it and I think the problem is solved. THANK YOU!

Hmm. Now the emoticons don't work.

Had to go back and enable it. Too many other features would not work or worked weird.

Oh well, it was worth a try.I thought you had posted that u r using the Firefox Browser. If so, you must not have the most up-to-date version with the latest security fixes. It should be version 3.0.10 just released today. Maybe that is why you keep getting the pita "warning..."? because there are holes in the security features and garbage is getting thru. If they won't let you update your browser there or customize it at all, dat drags :helpless:! perhaps if it is the geniuses at the IT dept. maybe you could "suggest" they update the browser for you with the latest security patches at least.

Maybe I can get the IT guys to update it. I'll look into that.
