I've got an '88 barely driven 69,000kms on it..
I wanted to know when is a good time to change the spark plugs ?
I have a gap tester and the necessary DIY tools to do so.
I have verified that the gap is .060
just don't know if i'm too early or too late for the interval ?
can anyone suggest any ?
and my apologies for placing this thread here as it's a 4.5
thanks

No need to appologize Simon, this is the right place. It's the 4.x section.
If your car is running well, the plugs are probably ok. The reason for changing them anyway would br that the older they get it seams, the more likely they are to corrode. The jack-ass that owned my 92 changed the front bank but left the rear because they're harder to get to. I bought the car with 108k, and changed them all. While I had considerably more miles on mine, your's has a few more years so I'd call that about even. And the threads on my rear plugs were corroded which made them a bear to get out. Make sure the engine is cold when you do it. Chasing those threads back isn't any fun at all.

i don't know how much 69,000kms is, but usually that's 100,000 mile maintenance. My car was running great @ 124,000 miles on the original plugs. I changed them anyhow. They were @ about .075 gap. You wont' need to bother with that for a long while.
When you decide to replace your plugs, go with the stock AC Delco plugs.
All the other "recommended" plugs are actually a higher heat range. Makes the car a little smoother maybe the first couple minutes driving on a cold engine but significantly raises HC & NOx levels once warmed on emissions testing.;)
