I just had my '76 Brougham weighed the other day after deducting my own weight the car came in at 2404 KG or 5300 pounds and thats with a quarter of a tank of gas in it! That is awesomely heavy, heavier than the 5213 pounds that I've seen listed as the official weight. Its more than 3 times as heavy as the so-called 'smart" car and heavier than the Hummer H3. It should come in handy if some idiot in a Jap car ever crashes into me.

My 82 Fleetwood 2 door weighs 5380 pounds with 1/2 tank of gas. Sweet.

My 76 Delta 88 Royale came in at 4860 with no one in it, just 1/4" tank or so of gas. You are right on target!

I am surprised the 82 would weight that much, but I guess my 94 FW is 4462 empty.....With the lighter LT1 and 4L60E trans and 8.5" rear end.....

How do you go about weighing a car like that? I'd like to find out what my '89 FWB actually weighs ... hopefully enough to fend off an idiot-launched rice rocket :brutal:

Take it to a truck stop and have it weighed. Its like $2 and you just drive it onto the scale.

I've found that scrap yards are a good place to get your car weighed for free. It's fun to watch the disappointment in their eyes when they realize that the car is not staying.

On my last trip the car weighed 6093lbs at the scale. The scrap weighed about 279. I weigh 270. Gasoline weighs about 6lbs per gallon and I had about 15 gallons, so 90lbs there.

Thats 5454. The door label reads 5446.

So tomorrow I'm going over to the town dump and get my beastie weighed,
in the meantime . . .
I was listening to the scanner as I was collecting tonight's eMails, and the old saying about "SIZE MATTERS" held true once again.
I heard an EMT talk back and forth with a hospital about
". . .woman in a mid-size car, wearing a seat belt but pretty banged up. She hit a big Cadillac. Right now, vitals are . . ."
So just imagine what that poor woman might have been feeling had she been driving something like a SmartCar or other rolling phone booth and tangled with a BIG CADILLAC. :histeric:

Have you seen the recent insurance crash test videos? One the news they other night, they showed the head on, off-center, crash test of the Accord (I think) and SmartCar. The SmartCar was literally lifted up and knocked back about 10-15 feet...by an Accord. I laughed out loud. Thanks, but my Fltwd is Smart enough for me!!

I have had my Cadillacs (past and present) weighed...

1969 Fleetwood Brougham----- 5,060 lbs
1969 Sedan de Ville----------- 4,920 lbs
1971 Fleetwood Brougham----- 5,060 lbs
1976 Fleetwood 75 Limousine-- 6,040 lbs

I was very surprised that the '69 and '71 FB weighed the same. They were all weighed at a recycling center scale.
