thanks. Also I dont think the wireless headphones are going to be with it. Can i just use afteremarket ones from radio shack or somewhere.

bigdaddy's caddy, how did you get your dealer to do all that work under warranty? Mine won't even acknowledge that the front diff is a service-needed item!

I looked at an 02 escalade about bought it but My friend is a mechanic he said it sounded like the front drive needed rebuild,
Do u think the 40-50 per month extra unless i just pay for it seperate and not on the bank note, for unlimited milage warranty do you think this would be a good investment then. Its around 1200 dollars, But states its everything except, normal wear items like belts, batteries, brakes, tires, Just wondered, Im sure a front drive axel repair would be at least that. or tranny, Didnt know if the electronics in these were really reliable either. lots of fancy stuff. Its not a GM warranty so just wondered its an aftermarket type.

The original owner enrolled my truck in the Cadillac extended warranty that was fully transferable My ft diff was making noise also i checked it out before i bought it and made a list of things i found Every thing Ive taking it in for has been repaired under my warranty no questions asked I purchased my caddy at Libertyville Chevrolet I also bought my suburban there The people there are awesome i never had a problem

Ft. Diffs are common problem on these trucks they are heavy awd trucks I am pretty sure an after market warranty should cover a failing diff I would be sure to do some research There is a lot of good information on this forum hope this helps

Yeah, my warranty is through Caddy (CPO) so I'm trying to see what they cover and what they don't.

Hi
:welcome::welcome::welcome:
I have the 2005 Escalade ESV Platinum. Welcome to the party
I got mine in December 2008 also with 63,000 miles on her.
Here is what I would check for.

Clunking in steering wheel when driving slow and turning the wheel. This is caused by a poorly designed upper intermediate steering shaft.
There is a new TSB to replace the steering shaft to finally solve this permanently
Check for a whining noise from the front end at 40-45 MPH. Slowly accelerate to put torque on the gears and listen closely
Check for a pulsating noising coming from the front end at 40-45 mph. Mine had that problem. It was the side carrier bearings in the front diff.
Make sure the service engine soon light is not lit. Mine keeps coming on with a code P0442 (Small EVAP leak)

Good Luck with yours

I really like the red,,
Me too. I don't see too many of them.
Obviously, the White Diamond and Black are the most popular.

Two more points.
1.) Heated/Chilled cup holders:
My driver side heating does not work. The red light comes on then immediately goes off.
There must be a short in the coil for that side.
Passenger side works fine.
The chilled portion works fine on both sides.
Something else to check on.
Only the Platinum edition has this feature.

2.) Rear Seat Audio
Make sure that when you put a DVD in the rear seat entertainment (RSE) system , that you can toggle the "source" button on the steering wheel to choose "RSE"
Make sure you can hear the DVD's audio through the vehicles speakers without static and with high quality sound.
An aftermarket IPOD adapter caused problems with this for me that took forever to diagnose.

OMG, I just picked it up around 1200 today, Drove it home (((( I LUV MY CADILLAC )))) Everything seems to be working fine, But I need to figure out how to clean the interior real good its got the light color interior the previous owners were mt climber bike rider type people. The seats have dirt looking places on them and a few places n door panels, Should I just use soap and water then use a leather condition after it dries. ?
So i need a owners manual ,wireless headsets, dvd nav disc, new door interior handle on driver side, chrome is worn off,
for a 2005 cadillac escalade platinum esv. ,
I will chenck the forums I remember seeing something about cleaning. (somewhere,) But
Just wanted to say....
I got it home, I love it. I payed some extra for a 4 year extended unlimited mile warranty, But it does give me peace of mind to not worry about repair cost,

very nice, the leather and seats arent really worn at all, it seems to just be really dirty, I used to use a armour all brand leather cleaner, than conditioner on my avalanch but it had dark gray seats, These are really light cream coored and I assume will show everything, Just didnt now f there was something really good out there to clean the nasty spots dirt whatever it is on them.
thanks
That write up is also awesome, I didnt know anything like that existed. Ive seen something like that for a dash but not for a seat.

As with anything else... Ebay is your friend. Do a search for Cadillac navigation disc.

Also, you really should hold the dealer's feet to the fire on getting you that Navigation disc anyway. They surely made a ton of money off the sale of the truck, they at least owe you a nav disc.

The wireless headphones will only work when the red light is on.
Put new batteries in them then push the button on them to get the red light to come on.
Then, as long as you are in the vehicle they should work
I had to put new batteries in all of mine.
You have to make sure to turn them off when done or the batteries are dead the next day.

Question
Do the cooled seats in your Platinum get very cold?
If I turn mine on high (3 blue lights lit), the seat does not really get cold. I can only feel a slight coolness on the bottom
Do u feel cold on seat bottom and back?

It isn't really supposed to feel COLD (there is no refrigerant, just a clever arrangement of fans blowing through holes in the seat) and I've never had a vehicle with this gimmick where I actually felt it was worth it. I've had a 2003 Navigator and a 2003 BMW 7 Series with cooled seats and it is exactly the way you describe. I only feel it on the bottom and it is my back that sweats more than my bottom.

my seats stopped working.....I cant figure it out.. I dont have a owners manual to find a fuse.

I just had my ac system replace.. all lines, I had to pay for lines and labor 600.00..... (compressor and rear evaporator...warrantyt I bought payed for that around 2400.00) After this the front vents would not blow after a few days mechanic figured out it was a module under the dash on the passanger side... 136 for that...urgh... I am going to see if the dealer that sold it will help me out.. on the 736...good luck with that...

So know after all of this is done... My seats will not blow... Is there a fuse or does the computer in the lade need to be reset the mechanics obd tool will not get rid of the error code for the ac i think its liek a 22 error or something it has to do with the vent thing opening.. hell I dont know I have been two weeks without my lade, Before that waiting for the warranty company I waiteing three weeeks for them to approve work,.. Burning my ass up, Its hot in KY,,,,espaecially with three kids riding and a pissed off wife...
Anyhow if anyone has any Ideas on the seat air please let me know.....

:thepan:

This is exactly why I will never buy an extended warranty anymore.
I went through that same sh*t when I had my 99 Denali.
I paid dearly for a 4 year "Bumper-2-Bumper" warranty and when it came to using it, it was like pulling teeth.
They always took days to get approval. And sometimes, they would not approve everything...like screws, and misc items. They nickle & dimed me to death. I never made my money back.
Screw That
I just pay as the repairs are needed in this truck.

kycop
06-25-09, 11:39 AM
well I got the 5 year warranty from great lakes, they suck ass.....They sent a refurb compressor... Because they didnt want to pay for a new one the machenic told them fine but they would be replacing it again...He charged them around 2,000 plus for what he did,, of course they didnt cover the metal lines that run the length of the truck so all that crap was high I had to pay... But on the bright side i paid the amount they have already been charged for the warranty and have 5 years to go.. So in all I guess it wasnt a bad investment...

On a different note still trying to figure out the heat/cooled seats why they stopped working if anyone has a suggestion.....
Oh yeah my serive ride control message is on and the lade is extended up like it is not releasing the air, I think its the exhaust thing, anyone know what part that is part number or where to get the part cheap.... I am sure warranty will not pay for that either.....
after these repairs I hope I will be good to go... I am going to change all fluids..all gear oils, etc every fluid, and replace with whatever the best is... Either from GM or the royal purple brand stuff... If anyone has a suggestion on what the best, better than from factory gear oil for rear end, drive case , transmission etc is im all ears on that one also....I know most guys on here has lots of experience in all the fields I am new to the cadillacs. But after driving this the wife and I are (get this) looking at a convertable pink cadillac.. LOL damn you cadillacs,, Problems with my first and still looking at others and still love it.. Call me a idiot... BUt......

$1200 was a great price. I paid about the same for a 3 year unlimited warranty with no deductible, and it covers alot of parts on the vehicle.
I have had the fuel pump replaced $600, the rear re-done $1600, the tranny rebuilt $2000 and now about to have the front diff rebuilt $1000.
So far I have really come ahead on the warranty expense.

when I purchased the vehicle, I made sure the interior was cleaned spotless and well as the exterior. I had it checked at the caddy dealer closest to me and they found a few thing wrong. The oil cooler lines were leaking. The wrong rear rotors were on. They were from a tahoe, which is wrong. Caddy has different ones. A rear seal was leaking, and the rear seat had a short in the seat so they heater kept blowing the fuse, which affected the garage door opener link. The signal in the passenger side mirror was also not working. I brought the list to the selling dealer and he completed the repairs to all those items before I made the purchase.

Good luck with your caddy.

I got my 04' about a month ago and it didn't have the manuals, Nav Disk, key Fobs or an extra key. All of those items are available fairly reasonable on e-bay.

I paid like $30 shipped for a full set of owners manuals with leather case, the Nav Disk was like $85 for version 4.1, New blank key with Caddy logo $10, factory key fobs off ebay routinely go in the $30 range. My Lade had a Viper Alarm in it and my Fob for that was $130 :cookoo: but it is a two way 1 mile radius pager fob so I guess it wasn't too bad.

Glad you got the warranty! Sounds like you just about have all the bugs worked out and you will have a great truck! I got the warranty on mine too and she is going in for a tranny/t-case seal in a couple of weeks so i'm glad I got the warranty too!

Just a update, the warranty has paid for itself I had to have the whole AC system replaced front to rear, Warranty took care of it. Also under warranty was the water pump. I have replaced on my own the front wheelbearing on driver side. I have also purchased all AMSOIL front rear end fluids and tranny fluids. NOt got around to changing that yet.
Anyone have suggestions what or where to get Brake Rotors, I dont have alot to spend on slotted or anything but just good rotors (any suggestions)

Any recommendations for extended warranty for a 2004 escalade with 48000 miles. Although I really don't want to spend on it but scared after reading this thread :suspense:

Just to add my thoughts... I've never known anyone personally to recommend an aftermarket warranty. They're always overpriced and usually difficult to work with. Just maintain the car correctly, employ a competent mechanic, and drive.

As for parts, Google is your friend here, as well as this forum. Luckily, parts for GM trucks are pretty cheap.

Good luck and enjoy,

John
