What are the options to replace a 92 Allante radio (receiver) and speakers? Can an aftermarket system be installed in the dash/speaker areas, or must the original system be refurbished? Thanks!

There are options, and many folks on the site have had nice alternatives that fit right, look good, and sound exceptional. The factory systems were exceptional but the mechanics 15+ years later don't always last. My system is quirky in that on most occasions if I turn it on, one side of the speakers aren't 100%. If I turn off and turn back on both sides work. Onalaska 04-16-09, 08:34 AM When I bought my Allante someone had installed an aftermarket radio in the glove box, removed the Bose speakers in the doors and ran new wires to some cheap Pioneer speakers. It sounded awful. You can rebuild the Bose amps yourself if you know something about soldering and electronics or buy refurbished amps for a reasonable price. They all fail over time and the capacitors in the Bose amps are usually the main problem with these systems. The factory radio receiver is located behind the glove box and can be exchanged if necessary as well as the CD player or Cassette player. The factory systems sounds great once it is restored. | |
