But you can't drive it:

Nothing special. They had it at Monticello at the Cadillac Driving Labs event. Its been thoroughly abused. Everyone ragged on it like the town ho. Except for that lady with the 3 minute lap.
This could be the first 35K 09 V some of us have been waiting for.

It's too expensive for a parts car and would be a nightmare to get it federalized for DOT and EPA so you could drive it. I'm guessing this is for a person who will turn it into a race car. Any SCCA racers here with a lot of spare cash?

It'd be more likely to be a museum piece or placed in someone's private collection (paging Jay Leno?) , never to see a public road at all except on a trailer.

i am sure it would not be that hard to get registered i am sure it doenst have a warranty though so that would sort of blow.

i would think an inspection at local DOT would be able to get it road worthy.

Well, it says that the vehicle "may not be driven on public roads", it does not say that it cannot. All you have to do is to get it certified in your state, by meeting the requirements. The only big modification was a roll cage, right?

I thought this was a stock car, except for roll cage and fire extinguisher, that was run through the Ring. Were the ads after the run "fudged"?

Some pre-public vehicles like this one are assembly line cars built for testing, endurance, etc. Typically they are called pilot cars. They are assembled on the line with everything a "for sale to public" vehicle would have EXCEPT the manufacturer's vin. Whatever the case, you can bet your sweet ass the car was not a "ringer", (pun intended) built to cheat and then break the ring record.

^ agreed. I can bet a $100 bucks that that vehicle doesnt have a VIN and in term is "modified"

its a bummer they actually have to auction it off; it should be held at a gm museum. i think many here in the usa dont realize what breaking the 8 minute mark on the ring means. hey b the way who has seen this car and ifso any pics of the roll bar etc modifications made to the car?????

I saw it, but didn't get a chance to drive it. Got one shot of it before I had to take off in the V I was assigned to drive.

Now if you like roll bars in your V... here are a few photos. However, they are not of the V used at N'bring. These are from one of the cars GM brought to Summit Point a year ago at V1 day.

wow thanks for the pics i wish i had gone to that event back then; I actually did not call the dealership back after they had left a message. I really appreciate those pics. the back seat is totally un-usable with that roll bar. man that is race track ready!!!

hey i just read your post again the pics of the roll bar was that from a full on track ready car?? I had seen a pic of the nurburgring v before and it had a more modest roll bar. but i might be wrong. any interior shots?

From my recollection the nurburgring v had, as you said, a modest roll bar setup behind the front seat only.

The tester that they had at Summit Point was far more extensive. Notice the holes cut through the instrument panel.
They had 3 Vs at SP that day, but they didn't all have roll bars in them.

Also, here are some pics of different brake setups they were using.

thanks this is way down the line but i know if you frequent any drag strip and go below 11's you need a roll bar.

The car just hammered off at 60k, and it was on the screen as an STS. Da

Too bad they didn't extend Light Platinum into 09, or it would have been even faster!

I will one day own the 2009-2010 lsx powered one. My 100,000 mile warranty expires in 2013!!!
