The sales lady told me that this 2005 Escalade EXT headunit is XM ready, and that all that I would need is the subscription. Is this true? She also said that it has Navi, obvious by the buttons on the HU but she does not have the Navi disk. How much do these cost on Ebay?

Yes, that radio has XM. Its one of the sources that you toggle through with the "BAND" button, or with the "Source" button on the steering wheel.
The XM receiver is located behind the glove box.
A new NAV disk from 2009 is $199 at www.gmnavdisk.com
Go to that web site and enter the VIN number to get the disk.
Also can be found on ebay.
Make sure you get the correct part number from the gm web site first

Make sure the option label shows U2K, or as noted, cycle through the band selections and make sure XM comes up.

The discs are like $199 for the latest version off of gmnavdisc.com.
As for ebay, you could probably check as easily as anyone. Just be sure you are getting the right disc!

Thanks guys. It's unfortunate that the navigation isn't upgradable. Like hook it up to a computer and download the latest maps.

The DVD contains the map database, you order a new disc and put it in, then it is updated!

Try calling GM nav disk direct and tell them that you just bought this truck and it didn't come w/ a nav disk. That's what I did (per my salesman's instructions) and they sent me one for free.

YMMV.

That doesn't look like the 2005 HU in my truck (touchscreen)...
