View Full Version : It's Going to be a Lonng 464 Miles... Hey folks -
The sales manager at Lindsay Cadillac in Alexandria called me up at work today and said, "Hey... your car fell off the truck..." I knew he was jerking me around, so I finished his sentence, "and it landed on its 4 tires right in front of your shop, right?"
I won't bore you with the details, but, suffice it to say the sales manager and the GM at Lindsay worked with me to make the right deal. They gave me enough for my Z06 (first time I've been Vette-less in.. ages) and accepted my GSU cert. After getting all the paperwork straightened out, visiting Luke in the parts dept. to sign up for the "V Day" at Summit Point, I headed on home.
Details:
Thunder Gray
Black interior
Recaros w/Suede surfaces
6-speed Manual
Navigation System
And that's it.
The drive home was torturous, as I really wanted to hammer it. But, too much traffic, and, I'm only at 36 miles so far. I've got some miles to put on it before June 29th arrives.
I'll get some snaps of it posted soon. But, you've seen Gray Vs already, so there's not much new to see here. :-)
jas Very, very awesome.
Congratulations  thebigjimsho 04-06-09, 06:08 PM congrats!!

Yep. There are a couple of other Track-Ready mods that have to be done to this car (per my source). The aforementioned are on the list, as are a couple more. :-)
Thanks all.
jas colbachlaw 04-06-09, 07:13 PM JVP,
Congrats on the car.
I am going to take my V out to the track in a month or two and a post with a list of track day mods would be great.
Mike C pmsteinm 04-06-09, 07:20 PM The 464 will be over before you know it...I thought it would be a long wait too, but it only took me from Monday @ 7pm until Friday @ 5pm to do it. The long wait was waiting for it to actually arrive at the dealer...2 whole weeks from the time it shipped. anonfrank 04-06-09, 08:24 PM Congratulations! :)
I'm at just over 850 miles now, took me one week to get to 500 miles. Unfortunately, we have a winter storm going on right now and I can't play...so play for those of us in snow territory when you can! picking mine up at the end of the month in ohio, and live in new york, so fortunately after that long drive home my car will be broken in! cant wait for the end of the month  Pics up in the picture thread. Enjoy.
jas Hawkeye2 04-06-09, 08:30 PM Congtats and enjoy. Sounds almost like the one I'm waiting for. poor-sha 04-06-09, 08:44 PM Congrats jvp. As of Friday mine was supposed to be here tomorrow. I bet they were on the same truck :)
So tell me more about "V-Day" at Summit Point and this list of track mods. I just finished ordering some new track pads for my Z so I don't know that I'm ready to start buying parts for the V... Just don't forget, The only mechanic for your new V needs to be Bill at Lindsay :) CSo tell me more about "V-Day" at Summit Point and this list of track mods. I'll meet you up at Summit Point at the end of April, and we'll discuss it in person. :-)

What's the deal with wrapping the tie-rods in heat shield tape? Do the exhaut manifolds run extremely close to them or something? What's the deal with wrapping the tie-rods in heat shield tape? Do the exhaut manifolds run extremely close to them or something?
The brake rotors do. Brake rotors get hot, and they can melt the rubber around the tie rod ends.
jas atdeneve 04-07-09, 10:27 AM Ahh, I see. Thanks.
Is that something specific to the V2, due to it's sizeable mass, or is that just a general precaution that the V1s could benefit from, as well? Is that something specific to the V2, due to it's sizeable mass, or is that just a general precaution that the V1s could benefit from, as well?
Really, it's something any car with rotors near the factory tie-rod ends can benefit. It never hurts to be too careful. Getting tie-rod ends replaced because of heat exposure from track use probably wouldn't be covered under warranty. Thus it's wise to protect them...
jas anonfrank 04-07-09, 01:34 PM How easy is that to do? I have ten thumbs when it comes to cars.
I ask because I'm thinking about making the trip to Summit Point for V Days this year. thebigjimsho 04-08-09, 01:30 AM bring it V2ers... | |
