I am two days into my 10 day drive home in my V and I have already incurred battle damage.

Something kicked a big rock up at me and left a one inch crack right in the center of the windshield on the passenger's side.

Anyone know if this can be repaired?

Anyone know about what it costs to get a new windshield?

As soon as I get a few more miles on my car and get the oil changed in Vegas, I will try and get a good photo of a big, smoky, burnout.

:( I'm sorry to hear about the windshield! I know I'd be a little upset. Rocks FTMFL!

Whatever you do, please make sure you have it replaced with a true GM windshield.Search here for some reasons why (V1 forum).

My V1 windshield cost me right at $500 installed.

I've heard they have a new "chip" repair technology where they fill the hole with a clear substance. Depends on the extent of the damage...

Scott,

Thanks for looking that up for me.

That is not too terrible, I was worried that the auto wipers would somehow make it a $1,000 windshield.

Thanks again for all of your help.

Anyone know about what it costs to get a new windshield?

If you want a "GM" windshield it would retail for $765.92. Part# is 25863399.

Windshield was just hit by a rock this afternoon, left a starburst 1 inch across *exactly* in the lower middle of the driver view. Having it repaired by insurance co tomorrow afternoon. $1000 deductable, so we'll see how it goes.
Haven't had damage to a windshield since the early nineties in my 300zxtt. Thought they made them stronger these days.

Mike drives the V so fast I am surprised a rock could catch it...

Thought they made them stronger these days.

Actually just the opposite, windshields have gotten thinner and thinner over the years.

I took two hits/cracks within three minutes on the highway... GRRRRRRR... Safelite is charging $375.00 for a new rain sensor windshield installed.

You might want to check your state insurance laws. In Florida, any crack or damage to a windshield MUST be replaced by the insurance company at no cost or penalty to the insurer.
