too bad the Rambler won at the end...... what exactly does he mean, when he says "how can I get this car out of 2nd gear"?

I was going to start a thread, about Cadillacs being mentioned in songs, have 2 collums..... 1 for the song being towards a Cadillac, and the other for just mentioning Cadillac.

Since I got my Coupe DeVlle, Pickup man is now my worst enemy song -it's a good song, but I can't listen to the part "light my truck on fire, and roll it down a hill. still wouldn't trade it for a Coupe DeVille"---- it is just sad, especally when I am sitting in my CDV :(

And my 409 by the Beach Boys can be my best friend song, becuase replace "409" with "4 point 9" and you got yourself a winner :D

The Cadillac was going as fast as he could and the Rambler was only in second gear.
It's not a pro-Cadillac song but still pretty funny.

hmmm, seeing as how the Rambler was kinda na econobox in it's day, that had to have been a built up one or something they were tlaking about....

.....when did that come out in... the 70's? beucase (well, without the emmsions crap) the Caddy's would have no problem going more then 120

ahh....well, I knew the 390 was in the '59 Eldorado, so I figured a year earlier, and it had the same engine...

I can think of alot of songs with Cadillac in them, here are a few.

Just a few, some mention it more then others, there are tons of songs, and alot of new rap songs mention Cadilalc (Escalade most likely)

how about hotrod lincolin , if you listen to the song the only way the hot rod lincolin got by the caddy is when the caddy pulled over to let him by , and as he said just before his foot was to the floor he had no more

and appently he had a pushrod issue to boot , "down in the valley she started knockin"

I think one of the pics is reverse because if you look closely ...one of the rear fenders does macth the other pic. Just flip the pic of Cash and you'll see what I mean.

It sells every few years, but with eBay and the Internet it will probably get more exposure next time it's on the market.

So somebody really pieced together a car with parts form 1949-1973? and it all worked? from that picture, I don't think it would look too good, but it ran, and drove and all that? is there anymore details about it, engine? tranny? that just seems strange, but cool at the same time.....

I think it was mostly body work on a late 60's platform.

Do a Google on "Johnny Cash" "one piece at a time" and you might get lucky and find a story on it. I know I've seen a couple of sites devoted to it.

I still like Cadillac Ranch, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band version. Its mostly country, but it doesnt suck and is not depressing like most other country.
