I already got some 315 35 24 tires and I was wondering if this would fit on a 24" rim with a 9.5 width, without having any issues?

315's are too big. You are going to have issues unless you can drive without turning. If you do decide that making turns will be a routine thing, I would imagine 285-295/35-40/24...

Yesterday while I was at wheelworks.. Some guy pulled up in a 03 ESV Escalade. He had 305-40-24 tires on his ride, and I asked him about the tire size rubbing issues and what not.. He told me that his 24's rub when he's making turns, but it's bad cause it rubs where some important wires are housed. He told me those wires could disable his truck if the wheel was to rub too hard against them. Then he told me how he's looking to get some 26's pretty soon and he is going to sell the 24's for around 1,200.

You might get away with a 315 on a 10 inch rim, I'm not positive but I believe that a 315 is too big for a 9.5 inch rim (width wise). Just my 2 cents

305/40s are to big as well You need a 305/35.. Or you can run a 295/40 but keep in mind that its about a inch and half shorter wheel than the 305/35, which in return..will make you look like your truck is jacked up higher than it actually because of the extra wheel gap.

I run 305/35/24 and the only time i get wheel rub, is when i crank the wheel all teh way to the very end and its VERY slight rub..cant even hear it inside the truck...

Theres no wires remotely near where it rubs though.

315s are DEFINITELY too big

Not trying to be ignorant or anything but I cannot understand how if 305's "work" pretty well on this vehicle with slight rubbing as you mentioned, how come a 315 which is only 10mm / 0.39" more wider be useless or waaay more trouble?

Also, about the rim width - will a 24x10 be fine? Is there ANY hope for a 24x9.5 without issues? I was gettin the 24x9.5 pretty cheap :(

Ok I'll break it down for you.

a 315/40/24 is 315mm wide, like you just said. 10mm wider. The overall diameter is going to be 33.92 inches tall.

a 305/35/24 is 305mm wide. The overall diameter is going to be 32.41 inches tall.

Thats 1.51 inches of a taller tire for the 315/40. If the 305/35s are slightly rubbing...what do you think a tire that is 1.5" taller is going to do?

ZaC851, it is a 315 35 24 not 315 40 24 ...

Also, I guess the 9.5 rim is a no win situation huh? I checked around the net seems like lowest most people with 315 tires do is a 10.0 rim ...

oh shit..i was quoting the wrong person...I thought you were jordan00escalade talking about the 315/40 which would obviously be too tall.

the difference between a 305/35 and a 315/35 in overall diameter is about a quarter inch so you shouldnt have to much rub.

I'm sure you could squeeze the 315 on a 9.5 but the tire would probably bulge out a little. Check out this pic of a 315 tire on a 8inch rim. Just to give you a idea of bulge. Obviously it wouldnt be this much bulge...but just to give an idea

(your rim would definetly be protected from any curbs :histeric::histeric:)

LOL - Wow, that does not look safe at all the way the sidewalls are curved in so much and I bet it is putting alot of stress on the sidewalls...

Seems like alot of people have got away with 10.0 rim width so I am just gonna pass on those 24x9.5 and go with a 24x10 rim size. I am sure it would not look odd like the pic above or be as unsafe as on a 9.5 rim huh?

Hmmm, I wonder if their is anyone here with 315 tires on an 02-06 Escalade. Would be nice to see the pics hehe...

i personally think a 315 would fit on a 9.5 inch rim. I do know that a 315 is perfectly flush on a 10.5 inch...so i would guess the tire would stick out a half inch past the rim on both sides for a 9.5inch.. sounds about right doesnt it?

Yeah I think it would fit but seems like almost everyone (like 99%) does not recommend it. I spent over an hour searching on the net and I even found that pic you had up there lol but I did not find anything making me feel confident in using a 9.5 width rim. Guess I will me going with the 10.0 width after all. Personally I do not think a 24x10 rim would be noticable much on the 315...
