Hey all, I gotta roll my 'other' caddy until I can fix the broken windshield on my 85 Fleetwood Brougham. Anyhow the deville has two error codes which are E13 and E39 and they cause the Service Engine Soon light to pop up. Any help is appreciated on what to fix or replace. Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. e13...o2 sensor circuit fault. may want to replace the sensor that has gone bad, which on an 89, i believe there is only 1 sensor to deal with.
e39...torque converter clutch engagement fault, probably should be careful on how you shift the tranny from park and whatnot, also, check tranny fluid level while engine is warm and running.

Thanks for the help illumina.
I'll change out that o2 sensor. Should I use an OEM o2 sensor or will one from Auto Zone do the job?? Where is the o2 sensor on the FWD 4.5's located at, front or back pipe??
As far as the E39 is this some sort of seloind that I can change or does the car have to go to a tranny shop for that?? I was going to change the trans fluid, filter and gasket some time next week should I hold off on that or what?????
If you plan on keeping the car more than 5 years get an AC Delco O2 sensor; if not, I've had good luck with Borg Warners but not Bosch.
For the E39 code, first check the wiring connector going in to the side of the transmission just above the pan flange. Make sure the pins are all clean & in position. Make sure the connector seats properly. Clear the codes then drive around (with lots of 50+MPH highway driving) to see if you still throw the code.
If you do, it's real easy to replace the solenoid yourself when the pan is off.

Thanks for all of the help bigred and illumina.
I guess I'll just pick up an Auto Zone o2 Sensor just to get the car running without error codes. Don't really know how much longer I'll keep the car it has 282k on original motor and 1 trans rebuild. Should I clean the connector with electric connection cleaner stuff or with compressed air???
Just make sure it's not all filled with dirt, grease, etc. Just needs to make decent contact, doesn't have to be super clean. With so many miles it is likely the solenoid anyway. Sometimes the plastic tang breaks off the connector though & it gets loose, just look first.
