View Full Version : wide whitewalls needed for '92 Brougham d'Elegance First of all: NOT COKER. Their tire for P225/75R15 is only rated
540-BB, and a "B" traction rating means I'll slip and slide this classic
American car, a 1992 Cadillac Brougham d'Elegance, all over the place,
especially when I move to the extraordinarily wet Southern Florida
circa the end of this year.
Trouble is, the Firestone FR721 has been out of production for a long
while. That was the last 'decent' rated wide (1" or more) whitewall tire
I used to be able to find.
AND: look at tirerack and only the Kumho Solus KR21 pops up as a
P225/75R15 tire for sale. This 'old man' tire size is becoming tougher to
pick up.
So does anyone know of or recommend a brand and place where I can
pick up at a reasonable price this size tire for this particular car? Coker
is too expensive and like I said, some of the slightly less outrageously-priced
tires have abysmal treadwear, traction and temperature ratings; really
they're more like "show tires" and I intend to use this car full-time before
too long. jayoldschool 03-17-09, 10:27 PM I have these:

They are rated 460-A-B. Runway Enduro 75. Dirt cheap, too! sven914 03-18-09, 12:59 AM Vogue Tyre has a nice line up of Gold striped white walls. I'm going to get a set as soon as my service tires die. They only come in 235/75R15, but I as an employee of Goodyear Tire and Rubber can say that they will replace a 225, and work with no problems.

Got an A traction rating and an 80,000 mile warranty. Go to voguetyre.com (http://www.voguetyre.com/index.cfm) for more information. Man, i love the way those Runway Enduraos look....and when I searched them online I actually found a local tire shop that is only about 4 miles from me that carries them. I hope they are still available when i get ready to replace the ones I have. they are only a year old and have about 15k on them. I couldn't bear to ditch them now. How smooth a ride do you get with the Runway Enduros?
Looks like a decent tire.
Or as Ed Grimley would say, a "fairly decent" tire.
Who manufactures them? Is 'Runway' owned by a larger
manufacturer?
Exactly how thick is that whitewall? Looks about 1", which might be
enough to make my '92 Brougham d'Elegance (70k) look fairly decent
as well.
Anyone know the plight of the Firestone FR721? They've been gone for
about 4 years. And the Dunlop D95 T Touring Elite was about a full
inch of whitewall also. They looked great on my all-black 1996 Fleetwood
Brougham a few years ago. jayoldschool 03-18-09, 06:44 PM Here is the actual width:

Here is what they look like compared to a "modern" WW (on my wagon):

They are made in China. Use your own judgement as to what that means. I researched them before buying, and didn't find any problems. My local parts place says they sell a ton of Runways to the cabbies because they are cheap and last a long time... Does anyone know if the Toyo Spectrum in P225/75R15 has a
decent-sized whitewall? Can't find pictures of that exact size. thefleetwoodguy 03-20-09, 02:27 PM I have 4 brand new ww tires, size 235/75/15

Thefleetwoodguy is great to deal with and as you can see very fair prices. I just wish the tires were not on rims when I picked up my parts.
