View Full Version : 97 - cranks well, but doesn't start

I could use some help with the diagnosis -

Here is the sequence of events:
Came out one day and my 97 Catera would not turn over. Even with jumper cables - it would just sort of grunt a 1/2 turn and then do nothing.

After reading this forum I have done the following -
** Replaced the starter (not sure I really needed that - but it made sense at the time)
** Replaced the Crank Shaft Position Sensor

Now I have a car which cranks like a champ, but won't start. Lots of crank, a little bit of rumble, but no start. And NO DTC codes for me to scan (I borrowed the tool from AutoZone since I can't drive the car).

The only 2 things I have not done is change the battery and the positive battery cable.

I have the 3 volume set of factory manuals, but I am running out of ideas to explore.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
