Is it just mine or is everyone getting bugs in there XLR. I expected this getting a first year model but just wanted to see what everyone else was encountering. So far the roof missed its alignment, the engine overheated, the front turn signal went out and the breaks squeek like crazy. What a headache it is. And by no means is it because I abuse the car, it is garage kept and I drive slow and watch the necks snap. It is great!
That's terrible! Caddy better check that. Those SL500 crossover buyers will trade within 6 months for a new SL500, and bad mouth the XLR into never-never land! At $47,654 dollars, my 2003 Town Car has yet to have even a single problem. (3,500 miles). The stereo requires a PHD in mechanical engineering to operate, but that's the design of it. I really hope that your car gets all squared away and that it's not represenative of the gene. I have seen very few of them on the road, here in Northern New Jersey, even though there are many, many wealthy areas. Have seen 1 blue (my favorite) 3 silver, 2 black. That's it, 6 in like 8 months.
There's a Mercedes dealer that did a dirty trick. He went to the dealer auction and bought a XLR used (like 2,000 miles) and put it on his lot, telling people that some guy traded it in on a SL500 because it was such a bad car! But, that's a lie, and they tell it to people on the fence, trying to decide between the SL & the XLR.
That is terrible, but that is bussiness. Well i will have hope in cadillac because i have been in them from birth and they have always been a pleasure. They will work this all out.
Bots; Tell me more about your overheating problems. I'm experiencing similar issues with mine in heavy traffic. It seems to cool itself well enough at highway sppeds, however in stop and go situations the car runs very close to the boil-over point.

With the amount of problems i read about on the high end Benzs, i think most of the SL owners would be happy to have so few problems...but hopefully gm will address these issues anyway. no reason to be just as good as anybody, we should be better
The over heating came from two things. The first time from the power steering. If your steering is smooth like a Cadillac take it to your dealer and get it fixed the steering is supposed to be tight like a sports car. This is what my dealer told me. The second time was because I let my mother borrow the car to go for a spin and she did not relize she was in the Steptronic so she was flooring it in first gear and she could not go over 45 she told me. I then explained to her the problem and she felt terrible but she is not used to that sports car stuff. She is a Seville driver.
Sounds like your overheating issues are much different than mine.
