OK guys. I finally found the code after going one by one on the input.. Now it is your turn.

On your nav radio there is a secret password screen.

The first person to report in the thread with the CORRECT 4 digit code wins a $420 buck handheld fully custom tuned to there car. Gm or ford. Dont matter, winner gets to pick.

To get to the password screen, you have to press 3 buttons. FAV then info and config all at the same time.

First man wins.

Ok, I'll be the huckleberry...
Yes, I can access that screen. What is it for?
I'm guessing there is only one common password?
It doesn't matter how many times you attempt?
Vat does dis do?

Sounds like a ploy to get someone (if they can - there are only 10,000 possibilities - 0 to 9999) to find out the correct password for the poster. My guess would be that he doesn't tell what happens when the correct password is entered since he doesn't know what happens since he doesn't know the password.

If you own the car, it's invaluable. It allows you to update your ECM and TCM to optimum settings whether you're stock, have headers and exhaust, or have modded the blower snout for more boost, also allows you to set it back to stock for warranty work.....

is 9448 the code you are referring to.

I do own a 2009 CTS-V, and I do not plan to make any modifications to the existing programming. So, the ability to make these changes is not of interest to me. I think that means that the prize, whatever it is, is not "invaluable" to me.

So that begs the question.... why even post in this thread?

What's unfortunate is that most in this on-line "commnity" don't realize what a great asset we have in Jesse a.k.a wait4me. Whether it is just general knowledge or those of us that want to mod our cars, this guy knows what he is doing. Coming from GN's,Cobras, and Z06's guys with his type of knowledge charge "tax" for those less in the know to get their knowledge or products. For that matter, look at some of the other vendors that sell mods and check their prices.

Anyways, I'm done ranting. I placed my order last week for the programmer and the intake tube and will place my order for his exhaust as soon as he says it's avail. Wish I knew this code and I could get a refund.. :banghead:

WOW guys, i was just trying to have a little fun with the forum and give out something entirely free with no strings attached... I didnt mean to bother anyone.. This was the only thing i could think of trivia wise that the game would last a week...

there are 0000-9999 possible entrys and it takes 3 seconds per entry. So if 10 people each did a 1000 section it is only 1 hour each and the guy that picked the right 1000 increment gets the prize...

It wasnt meant to cause any problems... It was just supposed to be fun.

You get extra style points for lettin loose the blow up babes while haulin azz away from Ms, AMGs, and other assorted über sedans. And overall win points for havin the brass balls to do it while speedin past polizei.

It is amazing how many people suggest possible answers to wait4me's question. If they had the car they could try them and see that they are all incorrect (2004, 2009, 9448, etc.). Apparently, Short-Throw found the password and wins contest. Now the question is, how long will it be before Short-Throw, or someone else who determines the correct password, posts it. Notice that my post contains no incorrectly spelled words, non-existent contractions, etc. "lol"

Im going to post the correct answers right now. BUT remember there are things in here you can kill your radio so just dont mess with anything you dont understand.

I think of it as this... We pay a bunch of money for our cars, and we should know everything about them.

Here is the one for the menu short throw posted.
3424.

Then if you press the auto show mode, there are 4 good answers for that when it asks for the password the right one seems to be 3366, but 0000 gets you there also. They messed up in the code and it will jump to the spot with that entry. OOPS

The other thing that you can do in the navigation "James bond screen" as someone put it is, to hold down the nav button while in that screen and it will show you satilite info for each one.

Then the password for the XM diag is 1101 But you can get to that screen by pressing a 3 button combo too.

Ill post more as i get thru the rest of the assembly.

Cool! Thanks! That was alot of touchscreen wear..hehe.
What can be done in the tire calibration mode? Most of the menu's seem informational. Other than the Auto Show...where can I make cool changes?

wait4me
03-23-09, 01:57 PM
As i told everyone that called last week. The tire calibration mode is simply for the navigation system. When you have a navi unit, the units themselves go thru a learning period. That learning involves several things. One is distance traveled, right turns, left turns and grade changes. Once the system learns that stuff, it will then be 100% learned. When that happens, you can go without a satelite signal for a while and the radio will still know exactly where you are and will track your movements uninterupted.

So the more you drive the better it is.

All navi radios do this proceedure. It mimics the alpine one and pioneer in function.

wait4me
03-23-09, 01:59 PM
As soon as my BCM from a spare 2009 comes in, i "Might" start trying to figure out how to add more to the radio. I have 2 nav units on my bench to start playing with.

tedcmiller
03-23-09, 08:30 PM
OK. I tried the password published by wait4me (3424) at the password entry screen and got the screen shown by Short Throw that provides a selection of various diagnostic screens such as "Auto show mode" and "GPS Information." I looked at some of them, not all, and pushed the "Back" button in each case assuming that this would not change anything. The Back button failed to work on the Functional Setup screen, so I finally went back to the radio by pushing the Audio button (I could not seem to get out of Functional Setup any other way). Now I cannot bring up any navigation screens (the Nav button does not work) and none of the on screen buttons (AM, FM, XM, etc.) on the radio seem to work. Pushing Fav, Info, and Config simultanously still brings up the password screen, but no password at all can be entered. There are probably other things that now fail to work, but I haven't tried everything.

I tried shutting down everything and starting over but this makes no difference. The things that I described above that no longer work still don't work. Any ideas on how to restore things to the way they were before?

Whew! In the time it took to post the above entry and do a few other things on the Internet (20 - 30 min.?), whatever software glitch I encountered timed out (maybe) and everthing is now back to normal.

Moral of the story - the password provided by wait4me (3424) works, but it can get you in a lot of trouble. I believe wait4me said in the post that revealed the password, you should be very, very careful about changing anything. He might add that in some cases things change even though you thought they didn't.

It probably links to a non-existence software module for changing certain performance settings of the car. Alpine has some software that is able to do this. If you encounter this problem again, a quicker way is to just disconnect the battery and quickly reconnect so that the radio resets but nothing else.

I'm glad everything has been restored. This will not always be the case.

Many asked me for the code and after careful thought, I chose not to post it for this very reason. I wasn't trying to be a stick in the mud. Those that know me understand I always help out fellow enthusiasts. I didn't want to be responsible for somebody, even unintentionally messing up their car.

It's very easy to alter something unknowingly which will have a direct effect on your pocketbook. Some of these changes could actually affect your warranty as well. Crazy? Absolutely, but unfortunately true.

As far as wait4me's tune, I'd love to see a car out at the track with it so we can measure it up! :yup:

Any takers? :lildevil:
