I am surprised no one has mentioned their XM trial period expiring since many of you got your V2 in December. Sorry if this topic has already been discussed, but I did a search of the V forum and since I didn’t see anything I will post my renewal experience.

My 3 month XM trial period was to expire today so yesterday I called XM to renew and I used the “promotional code” from the old XM thread in the CTS forum and it worked. All I did was call the listed 800 number and let the guy go through all of the renewal options and then I mentioned that I have promotional code to get XM for $77/year. Without any questioning or asking for the code the guy was like “OK no problem. As you can see the NAV Traffic is extra.

Call (800) 347-0600
Promo Code: ZWINBACK
XM Renewal: $77/yr.
NAV Traffic: $3.99/mo or $11.90 per quarter or $47/yr.

I have four radios on XM (only three at present, due to the free three months provided with a new car purchase). The current XM subscription for the 2009 CTS-V will have to be switched from free to cost when it expires at the beginning of next month. However, since I have four radios on the same XM subscription, I pay full price for only the first and approx. half price for the other three. Now, I could pay a full year in advance as the promotion requires, but I choose to pay monthly (at a somewhat higher cost) in case of unforseen events. Each person should make this choice depending on their individual circumstances.

Thanks! They just called me to renew my Z06 XM. Will that code work with that I wonder?

My annual subscription was expiring on 3/23. Been paying $142.45 a year for the last 3 yrs.
So I called and told them I was canceling.

They asked why? I said "times are tough. Looking for ways to cut back."
The guy on the phone never hesitated. Just asked if I would go for 1 yr @ $77?

I told them that would be very helpful and agreed.
Spent more time on hold than in actual conversation. Took about 5 min.

Looks like I need to throw a few more bucks towards being a 'supporting member' :highfive:

Enjoy guys and gals!!!!!!!Thanks ready, as a long-time XM subscriber, I didn't think that promotion applied to me--but they took it no problem. It allowed me to roll off my old radio with just Mostly Music and roll on my car radio with XM Everything + NavTraffic for almost a wash (for a year anyway).

I'm glad I could help. Looks like all you have to do is ask for the $77/yr and XM will give it to you without any hassle. I will soon become a "Supporting Member" of this forum right now my priorities are all screwed up because I keep buying stuff for my V2...LOL.

Just called and cancelled XM. Have two Sirius radios and only listen because of Stern. Just too expensive having a single XM radio and having to pay extra for the Sirius stations. This socalled merger blows.

Received a letter that my XM renewal is coming due on the Vette.

I called to cancel, as it did not seem worth it to me for 1/2 year. The lady
suggested I get a "seasonal" rate. I asked what were the parameters? Do
they cut off several months etc. She said, it is full service all year, they
just mark your file that your car is for seasonal use. And, you have to call
in every year to confirm it is seasonal still. Total price $68.70 per year. (Cdn)

Thought you might like to know, in case any of you have a renewal
coming due!

I think Stern is the reason for the high prices. Who in thier right mind would want 500 million just for sitting in front of hot chicks all day.... I would have done that for free.....

That with all the other contracts like opey and the others. They should just make it back down to just commercial free stuff and if someone wants something else, you just buy that channel subscription, and then the "stern guys get a percent" of what the "customers" pay a subscription to..

That seems to be a better choice. That way you only pay for exactly what you want.

I dont listen to anything other than the comedy channels and 1 music station, all the sports, news, talk shows, are all just taking up space. But my taste is different than others... So that is just the way it is..

All my xm is shut off in all my cars because it isnt worth me paying to hear commercials. Our local radio stations do a good enough job...

Naw, I would feel bad doing that.. The Chips "with the serial number" Can be cloned i suppose using a subscription that someone is paying for, but It would be such a pain to get to the chip, pull it from the board unless there is a jtag for that one, but i dont think so. Just never been on the top of my list. If you every try pulling off that type, a product called chipquik works really fast.
I use it to pull all the flash and CPU chips from the ecm boards when i Reverse engineer the Bins for the car controllers.. You can have a cpu off in 20 seconds with no broken pins.

My fun is modifying the DVD nav disks and making gangster / joking voices / sayings for the navigation directions.. Not everyone wants the sexy sounding hot chick navi lady voice. lol

Before I go and look at both discussions to make a comparison - is it possible you could have added your experience to the discussion? Or is it different enough to warrant it's own discussion?

Thank you...

You are partially correct. I could have added to it, however, in Canada they are not giving the same discounts. Our XM is
different than yours. Here Sirius and XM have not yet combined. Also, you can see I posted in the original to see if it
would apply to my Vette XM renewal, and no one replied. You can move or delete if you wish.

Thanks,

Brian.

Brian,

My main concern here is that we don't have two places for people to discuss the same topic. If it's not the same, than I'd like to leave this one alone. If it's close enough, than I'll close this one. Reason being - it's difficult for people to maintain conversations in two different places with the same topic - and the same goes for when people search later on - they'll feel the need to follow both discussions - and if they're long discussions - it will be time consuming..

I'm leaning toward closing this one but I'd like to be sure I'm doing the right thing.

Thank you..

How do we get the Gangster talking guy? Care to share Wait for me?

My suggestion would then be to amend the title to "XM in Canada renewal". I understand about the multiple
posts, it makes sense. You can lock this thread if you feel it is redundant.
