I bought a '99 Escalade a couple of months ago and I love it so far. It has 130xxx miles on it, but hasn't given me any problems yet and runs stronger than any vehicle I've driven. Are there any problems with the '99's that I should look out for? Thanks guys. :)

I had a 2000 and kept her til 138K and never had problems under the hood. Cat. converter, oxygen sensors and something in the front end needed fixing. But otherwise basic maintenance I had no troubles. Kinda miss her, loved them barn doors. :( http://i701.photobucket.com/albums/ww11/joee5/P32300031-1.jpg

Head gasket, upper intake gasket.. Those gasket problems were the demise of my 2000. Just traded mine in for a 2006 last Friday.

your onstar?... I had to take mine to the dealer, because they had the information for a catera. lol.. Take it to the dealer and they will order the parts and install for free. They will also change your dvd system, there was a recall on it. If your escalade hasn't already been serviced on the recall.

I have some 99/00 escalade parts that I'm trying to sell now.. Radio, hypertech programmer, brand new passenger side mirror. I made some changes to mine, and kept factory equipment. Also have some things I just ordered to have around incase... Just let me know

there was a recall on the dvd system on the 99/00?

also its not the onstar...but think that the pcm is getting the wrong signal from some where. did a volt test on the map sensor and the wiring and it all checks out. Any info on the hypertech?

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. A hypertech programmer? What model? What has it done for you performance wise?

I believe it the 30024 model.. I can double check when I get home. I'd say it improved the overall performance a little. Remove speed limiter, rev limiter, shift points, and shift firmness.. You can also adjust your speedometer to match your tire size. You can check and clear trouble codes.. I listed the parts above that I still have from my 2000. I'll have to run through the garage tomorrow to see what I have in there.

and yes, there was a recall on the 99/00 dvd system. I'd go back and check to make sure you're caught up with all the recalls.
