So ive had my car for a few weeks and i'm looking for a good dealership to have my car be serviced at....also to have a few things checked out. Also i'm looking for a dealer that is good with mods and a warranty.

So please let me know. Also does anyone go to martin cadillac in englewood cliffs?

ewe are close enuff. go to Lindsay and have no worries. I'm in Boston and have taken it to Alexandria, VA for work. 500 miles on the dot.

if it's under warranty, free loaner. But even if it's not, a couple hundred bucks for a rental to make sure it's done right saves you money down the road. seriously think about it...

Trip to Lindsay for my diff and other work was one of the best decisions I've made for the car, that's for sure.

03-08-09, 08:24 PM
Sorry man ... it really had nothing to do with your initial post though. I was just sayin, he was right next to a track. Tis all.

Back on topic, I've had one of my Vs over at Martin for several visits, back when. I don't bring my Vs there anymore.

One of the techs there (not sure if he's still there anymore), had a V, himself, and he was cool - he actually cared about his work and making sure things were right. He got pressured to let things go, so to speak...

Some of the apprentices there, not so much. I've had my steering wheel leather scratched up (they were going to replace; I didn't even bother going back for it), battery cover taken and apparently 'placed' in the staff/locker room, LED lights not replaced (where was it? staff locker room), yada-yada-yada. Interestingly enough, I've seen the service manager at Brogan on 46 now...

By the by, I don't really rely on warranty anymore. I think I just said, "fvck it" a while ago. Something goes, just mod it or find a better replacement...

liqidvenom
03-08-09, 08:27 PM
yeah, i was just busting your chops.

since i have the warranty i'll use it and see what i can get replaced for free or so. i'll play it by ear when the time comes though.

atdeneve
03-08-09, 08:43 PM
Yeah, definitely use it for what it's worth. But, like you're doing right now, find out where it's worth your time to go.

Dealer story

Yesterday i brought my :v: into Borgan Cadillac, on Rt 46E, on the last day the warranty. Told Them my diff was whining intermittently, the trunk shocks were shot and my reverse light had condensation in it... Today i get a call telling me that they were going to take care of the trunk issues and hook me up with a new diff under warranty!!!

I was totally surprised about the diff..:shhh:to tell you the truth, I really didn't think the diff was too noisy. After i got the diff bushing replaced it seemed fine but i have never been in another :v: so i may just be used to the whine... I just kinda threw it in there because i have always wanted to get the upgraded diff but never wanted to beat on my car to do it..

btw, i left my CAI and katech Shifter installed and they didn't even comment on it.

I won't go into all the detail. But I bought my V at Martin and from day 1 had problems with the service department. I guess these guys are okay on Sevilles, but when it came to a V they were clueless. Within the first year, I filed a formal complain with Cadillac. I guess they agreed with me since Cadillac gave me a free year of oil and fluid changes. Stupidly, I had Martin do some work on my transmission since it was then under warranty. I told them what the problem was, but they refused to listen on the first two visits. Finally tried what I suggested on the third visit. Meanwhile, they kept the car more than 20 days on these 3 visits while they tried to figure things out. I also stupidly agreed to let them install new brake pads and rotors. Charged me $1,200. I complained to Cadillac again about their service and ended up getting my warranty extended for 6 months. I finally got smart and started going to Grand Prize Cadillac in Nanuet. They actually did decent work. But once the warranty was up, I found a local shop that has done great work for me.

As I said, this is only a little of the detail. I have a whole file that I'm keeping for posterity.

I go to Anita Tire in River Vale. They do most of the work on my V and my C6Z06 (and my son's C5Z06). Ari, the owner, is a Corvette owner and enthusiast. Rob, the shop manager, personally does or supervises all the work on my cars. He is a car and motorcycle racer--a real car guy. As an added bonus, their labor rates are well below Cadillac dealers (i.e., Grand Prize is $110 hr. while Anita is $80). And they let me get my own fluids (nothing but Red Line for the V) and just charge for the labor.

I've had work done in the past by specialty shops like Cartek, East Coast Supercharging, ACS Racing, International Motorsports, etc. But for all but the most specialized things--such as my Maggie install--I use Anita.

Good information. That's a lot of past experience with a lot of notable shops. I'm going to keep that in mind for when I do my maggie. Haven't decided if I'm going to do it myself yet. About 35 minutes north from me.

I was at Brogan last week. No V in the showroom sorry. As for Your run in with Martin. WOW thats some serious stuff. I woulda freaked out on the second visit nevermind third. I do most of my own work but when it comes to others working on my car Im a freak. I wish I could afford all of the tools a dealer has so I can do all of my own work and not rely on anyone else.

There is an STS in MAdison that is an oil reclamation center. I'd have to imagine all STS's are. I personally let in build for a few, or do the rear and oil at the same time, put it all in an old detergent container and give it to them. Free.

I personally bought my car at Clairmont and had all of my service there. They are nice, knew me by first name, and I never really had problems with them. WE didn't see exactly eye to eye at first, but I put myself in their shoes and just dealt with it. When I went to buy my car, they were the only ones to actually approach me, let alone take the car out with a friend unescorted! Sold. Before that I had gone to Crown in Watchung which is 5 minutes from my house. They didn't even want to help me. Today I went there to get some diff additive. I walked into the show room, looked around. 0 customers. Out of the 8 sales/managers I got 0 hellos, nothing. Even after I walked around the '09 V they had roped off in the show room, nothing. I bought my lube, and walked back out laughing. I work in sales and can't imagine not saying hello to a client no matter what when they walk in. It's not like they were so busy. That's why they didn't get my business.

Anyway he was enamored with the V. He saw I was there and stopped in to talk about the V. We talked for a while and he was mentioning he had an SHO (x2) back in the day. I was telling him that there are a few guys on here that used to have SHOs and now the V is the car for them. I was telling him to come lurk and find the answers to all of his questions. So I don't know if any of you guys go to Clairemont Cadillac in Caldwell for service (I do), but a buddy of mine told me he was in for service the other day and they said they will be closing up shop. I wouldn't take my word on this, but he said there is a sign on the door that reads "Thanks to the Obama administration" as well. I don't understand why they are closing Clairemont to be honest. Seems to me like they move quite a bit of GMs...always see their logo on cars all over NJ. This is bad news for me because I was close with one of the head service techs that would put me through for just about anything. He lives up my street and has been a good neighbor/friend years before I got my V. Next closest for me is Brogan on 46. Anyone had any bad experiences there? Just kind of far for minor stuff like motor mounts which go twice a year  Wish Lindsay was closer. Need to put UUC mounts on everything and just be done with it, but I want to do headers first. I figure, spend $50,000 on the car it is worth it, on a $20,000 VW, hell no.

No warranty = $$$$$

They are closed now so I don't care. I used to go to Clairmont to see the guy that would work on my car when I had a warranty. Charged me only $50 an hour. Go through the service department $100 per hour it was great. I'm going to miss that.

All and all, not happy about this move

my experience - Clairemont didn't know a V from a hole in the ground. They had no idea what the "skip shift" or CAGS was... That was about 9 months ago. A few weeks ago, I took my V to Brogan on 46. They knew what they were doing (Jack was the desk guy I talked to). They fixed my oil temp sender problem.

There is a performance shop in Livingston right off route 10 that would probably do a better job anyway. The guy JR there has done some work on my car. I recommend him to people. There aren't many performance shops around but I'd recommend either them or TTP down in Little Falls

I know that this is a little early, but Konner Chevrolet in West Caldwell is having their car show on Sunday, Sept 13th. I went last year and it was pretty good. Music, food, etc. There is a big parking lot across the street to meet up with the V's.
Now, for us Giants season ticket holders this is the home opener, (4:15pm) so depending on when the show starts...
(I will try to find out when it starts)

3M Body Shop Clean Up Heavy Duty Wheel Cleaner part #38374

Mike, I talked to Mickey the other day (if you remember him from V-day) and we're probably going to come out to this on the 19th. We're both busy next week so the week after more likely. He recently got cutouts put in and they sound SICK with his setup (cam/kooks/magnaflow). You gotta hear it. Hopefully it's nice in a few weeks so we can get a nice turnout.

probably sounds even better because its an LS2 :)

I'll be in Fla in two weeks.... Three, now were in business! He texted me he got hit in his car, I asked him about it and get no response....

Yeah, that was awhile ago. Luckily not that much damage (atleast what he told me). I don't know if you remember at V-day he was having problems with what we thought was his MAF sensor. I'm sure you remember us all getting yellow flagged in the carousel because his car shut down middle of the lap :helpless:. He got that fixed too, whatever it was.

And if by better you mean more like a truck, then yes :canttalk:

He told me he could never sign up on the forum because they don't allow gmail or yahoo or any free email account. I think that's a pretty lame excuse, but I've recently put a PM into Heavymetals to see if we could allow his email address to get a name on here. He's a pretty cool guy.

they don't allow gmail or yahoo or any free email account. wow, I guess I've been on here so long I didn't know that. I only have yahoo and gmail.

Mickey's car sounded sick already. I can only imagine now.

lilg, you down to go in three weeks?
