: Why has no one done this with a V1?

I always wanted too but powdercoated instead....seeing these makes me want to maybe do it to mine again:stirpot:

I would love to get my stockers done like that, along with the stock grille!

I have looked into it, and there are a few reasons why I have not done this. It is very expensive and the turnaround times I was quoted are long. I have not found a place that will do a wheel exchange like they do with regular chrome wheels. Also there is a lot of bad feedback on the durability of the coating. It apparently flakes off easily. That said, I think black chrome wheels are some of the best looking wheels out there.

i know CCW used to offer it... but when they were getting complaints of it not holding up they stopped it... but it does looks SAWEEEETTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^^^dat, and the turntimes were over two months. Black Chrome cannot be appreciated until you see it in person. It is still available through some vendors, but I have been told the Environment Police are cracking down on it.

those are bad ass!

Ever since I saw some G37 thing with 'em on last summer, I've thought they looked really nice ... really nice! But, for anyone who takes their wheels off and on a number of times in the course of a season, the lack of durability on the finish would make it completely impractical. Too bad, too.

I am about to pull the trigger on a set. My local wheel shop is sending them off for me. Turn around is two weeks. My car will be on jacks stands because these stock wheels are so hard to come by........

I've been screaming Black chrome on this board 4ever!!!!

I wonder why the durability is so poor for this finish. You would think some quality clear would be all it would take to keep it together. Chrome rims seem to hold up fine.

well he said 175 per wheel and 200 for shipping ;)

who's first ??

03-04-09, 05:48 PM
I would've done it years ago if it were worth a damn...

03-04-09, 05:51 PM
^^ oh he'll no. Too expensive for my taste

03-04-09, 05:55 PM
I'm lost. LUV, don't you already have black chrome wheels? :hmm:

I have chromed stockers that have some flaking sitting in the garage. I might do this but you guys saying the durability of black chrome is not that good has me wondering if i should get mine rechromed or black chromed.
