Need advice. I finally got my V, an 05 in excellent condition. My warranty is up in 2 days. That sucks. Did a VIN Check and below is the most recent warranty work done. I have gone over the car from top to bottom and the only issue is my trunk lid acts like a guillotine. Any one else with that problem?? Anyhoo, should be aware of anything else that the dealer should do?? Also, what is the "upgraded PCM' string about?? How can I tell if they actually did a performance upgrade in the PCM??

Thanks in advance.

Will your wallet allow you to call GMPP and extend your warranty for another 3 years or 50,000 miles? Congrats!

I figured it would not be worth the extra money to extend the warranty. I would consider it if the value is there. With all the other warranty work done, I figured everything from here out would just be out of pocket expenses and would replace with better parts anyways. I would like some opinions on the Extended Warranty.

The trunk lid shocks fade away quick. Just tell the dealership it almost fell on your 4 year old! :)

I woulnd't say this statement is entirely true. It all depends on your dealer and what the issues are. Almost all of my mods were done after the factory warranty and within the GMPP warranty period. As a matter of fact, I just had some work done at the dealership that they said was not covered (due to a misdiagnosys on their part) and GMPP sent me checks for my out of pocket expenses.

GMPP paid for my new drive shaft install, transmounts, diff mounts, axle changes, and a few other small items. The plan paid for itself with the first couple of items in this list. My car is an 04 model and I am covered for another 27k miles or 14 months.

It was the best $2000 I ever spent!

I paid 2400 for my 4 year 48k warranty in December. So far, I've had a new diff put in, and I'm currently waiting for a new transmission. $6000 is what it would have cost me had I not had the warranty.

Once you start paying for stuff that an extended warranty would cover you'll kick yourself.

I just bought 4 years 48,000 miles from GMPP and paid $1600.00 for my O5 V. It won't take long to cover the money I spent on the warranty when I end up needing to use it. Plus if I sell the car the warranty transfer's to the new owner and that can help give them peace of mind knowing the car will be taken care of at the dealership.

exactly, where??

damn, time is running out and don't know what to do. I am definitely modding the car, but it will be two years before major mods. I feel I can pay for alot of the items out of pocket, but another diff or a tranny, not good.

I got my GMPP warranty from Roling Chevrolet in Waverly, IA. My friend owns the dealership but you should be able to buy it for roughly the same price anywhere. If I remember right I also have a $100.00 deductible. When you call they will want to know the miles on your car. This makes a difference as to how much the warranty costs. My car had right at 17K when I bought it. I also saved a little money with opting for the $100.00 deductible too. Get it bought and remember you can always sell it back to the dealership!

GMPP is no golden parachute folks. I dont know why on earth anyone would consider purchasing one of these if youre even thinking of modding past a CAGS eliminator (which is also a mod). Dont forget GM just lost 30 billion dollars. You want worry free??, go buy a low mileage 2007. Deflation has driven these cars into puke price territory.
Otherwise, find a early model with all the fixins done just before the factory warranty ended..Then sock away about 300 a month for unexpceted failures, have fun fix/improving all the midlevel crap that will keep breaking anyway(dealer replaces parts with same (new) shitty parts), then decide if you want to go to serious mod hell.

<<Then sock away about 300 a month for unexpceted (sic) failures.......>>

$300/month x 12 = $3600/year
My warranty was $400/year

Who says people in the US have bad math skills.

$300/month buys a decent new car in this economy.

cadzillaTN hit the nail on the head. with news that GM can't function, why pay them money, that may or may not ever be used. all the initial crap has been replaced and anything else just gets upgraded and installed by me. I sock away emergency money and mod money. I know how to take care of a daily driver, street machine as this is not my first rodeo. Evidently I do a better job managing my money than GM. Car is Paid In Full. So, all I have to do is take care of this beast and live happily ever after!!
