: What to put in CD Changer spot?

Well I recently got a new deck for my Lade. An IVA-D310. Amazing deck i must say, but i do have an issue. The place that my CD changer once was is now just a pocket, and i personally hate the look. I've seen special din CD holder pockets, and some drawers. Are there any other options? Is it possible to put another CD changer in the spot? (with modification of course)

Thanks for any feedback.

Ryan I am in the same boat right now I have a 1/2 din crossover/eq in that spot - I listen to a lot of music and find a need to change the subs crossover point from time to time. I am only using it to control the sub but since I have a GMOS 04 I may use it to control all the sound, I have a trim plate to cover the area around the half din and fill the rest of the hole. Eddy

You could always put a nice monitor there. I have some custom escalade bezels made to house a double din headunit or a 5"-8" monitor in the lower bezel area. They are wood grain bezels that are a factory match.

That would be cool to run NAV in the top and MP3 vids in the bottom or vice-versa.

How much do you want for one of those bezels?

This is a little off-topic.. But I plan on installing an indash monitor in the lower portion (cd slot) and keeping the OEM navigation installed. I will disconnect the speaker from the nav unit and connect them to the indash mounted in the cd slot. Then I will have a single speaker connected to the nav, so I can still hear the bells, chimes, onstar etc. etc.

Does anyone know if I will have any trouble with a set-up like this? I'm hoping this will work and I'll be able to retain my stock nav unit and have my audio and video system function independently.

Those bezels do look amazing. In the 02's there is no wood grain in the lower area, just black. A custom double din screen there would be pretty nice... Maybe I could just have a regular deck up top, then a double din touch down below... Would i be able to run the playstation through the one below?

I am now in this same position and am wondering what to go with. Does anyone else have any good ideas of what do put in there. I may just run my ipod cable from my head unit and store my pod in there.

I kept my OEM stereo system and just added a new pioneer N2 flip up deck where the CD changer was and then relocated the CD changer into the center console. So I can still maintain the steering wheels control and the rear passage can still use their audi controls.

Hey Lu how much did that aftermarket head unit up top run you? My head unit crapped out on me recently and I'm looking at something aftermarket. One of the new Kenwoods probably. Unfortunately the install on one of those is RIDICULOUS. The unit out the door will run about $2400. Not what I was planning on spending.

Hey Everyone, Am a NewBee to this forum. Got a "Black, 2005 Escalade ESV" and love the vehicle. I recently joined this forum and been reading some of the inputs here. I think you guys are great helping each other out. It's almost sounds as if you guys/gals are family............:)

Anyway, Lu Scola I have a question for you. I tried PM'n you but it says your box is full and can't receive anymore messages. What I'd like to know it that, do you still have that custom made bezel for the 6 disk cd changer/clock/small compartment area? If so, what are the inside cut out dimensions or is it a blank bezel? I am planning on modifing that area to accomodate a dvd player which will run through an interface and into the touch screen Navigation unit.

How can I get a hold of you for more info Lu? I welcome an input from anyone on this installation. Feels nice to belong to an Escalade family.

Thanks,
Thomas

Yeah you can put a DD where your current radio is. You just need a 03+ factory radio cage (plastic support piece) or can make a piece and will need to lower your a/c controls and trim your bezel...
