So my engine light is on, its not flashin but it is on. (booo!)

I've been wanting to buy myself a decent obd-2 scanner so I dont have to bother going to the stealership's and will fix most things myself and if I cant do it myself at least know what is wrong so I dont get bent over at a shop.

The orange actron ones at advance auto parts are nice, the newer one does freeze frame data, o2 sensor voltages, etc.. but they are over $200 bucks.

I've found some on ebay which do the same for $110 to my door.

Can anyone lead me to a decent scanner with a good/fair price?

What are you using and would you recommend it to a friend ?

Thanks in advance,
Keith :highfive:

My SES light just came on too....AGAIN
It has come on 2 times in the last 2 months.
I took it to the stealership and they sold me a new gas cap and reset it.
Then 1 month later it came on again. Took it back and they got the same code.
Something about the fuel EVAP.
They simply reset it then No Charge.

Now..it is on again. I need to be able to reset this damn light myself.
It is too bright for me at night.

Thanks for asking this question. I hope we get some good answers.
I want a scanner too, and need to be able to reset the SES light with it.

I bought a crappy $50 one off eBay about a year ago.... Still works 100%, never had a problem!

I also got a cable from Ebay (ELM327) to hookup to my old IBM thinkpad laptop. Works great for all OBD2 cars. I had trouble finding software that could connect to GM vehicules tho, so far only ProScan works.
