In my opinion, this is the one to own. The Tony Show 02-26-09, 10:08 PM Here's why: In these recent spy shots, look at the lower door panels--there's tape covering up exactly where the performance badge goes. And the grille looks like the mesh setup found on the V-Series. And the back exhaust pipes are rather large. I love that they deduced this is a V by the tape on the door and the tailpipe size- never mind the gigantic Brembos that say V on them or the bulging hood. CVP33 02-26-09, 10:57 PM Them boyz is a slow bunch. :helpless: proexpert 02-26-09, 11:34 PM I'll buy one if they make it. :D Nutz 02-26-09, 11:48 PM Also, V: wheels, grille, possibly brake ducts. Hope to see it happen. 1 more thing... Baa-bye Godzilla CIWS 02-27-09, 09:05 AM Good to see that model isn't sitting gather dust vs testing miles. Here's hoping it makes it to the street. MYV8ABMR 02-27-09, 02:57 PM personally i prefer the sedan for functionality but from the renditions ive seen they did a good job wih the coupe i hope it makes it to production Zexnos 02-27-09, 03:03 PM The exhaust is a little vetteey. Think it will carry it over if/when it makes it out? http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcsi.dll/bilde?NewTbl=1&Avis=CW&Dato=20090226&Kategori=CARNEWS&Lopenr=226009991&Ref=PH&Item=1&Maxw=660&q=85 Florian 02-27-09, 03:07 PM I hope so......as Chris says, its the one to own. F The Black Dahlia 02-27-09, 03:29 PM The hood bulge was on the Concept Coupe as well but the Wheels, Brakes, thrid brake light/spoiler, and maybe the exhaust can give it away as a V. Looks immaculate! THAT is my dream car. *Crossing fingers* :) CVP33 02-27-09, 06:48 PM Couple of questions: Anyone know how much to coupe is said to weigh vs. the sedan? This thing could be scary fast if it's appreciably lighter. Why the center exhaust? Their styling exercise just cost me the ability to help my friend move by towing a uhaul trailer. Er, wait a minute, nevermind. Caddyscat 02-27-09, 06:57 PM You guys know why its "in disguise"? To make sure Obama or the "car czar" doesn't see it. Heh Heh. I really hope they make it, personally I still want the 4 door, but I know a lot of you REALLY like the coup. Razorecko 02-27-09, 08:34 PM Couple of questions: Anyone know how much to coupe is said to weigh vs. the sedan? This thing could be scary fast if it's appreciably lighter. Why the center exhaust? Their styling exercise just cost me the ability to help my friend move by towing a uhaul trailer. Er, wait a minute, nevermind. From what i heard is that it will weigh about the same. Its build on the same platform. Only difference is that it has 2x doors instead of 4 and looks sportier. Personally I think the sedan looks better but untill the couple his the market anything can change Cub Cadet 02-27-09, 09:31 PM I will buy your 09 V's then!! I am not a big fan of this... the style doesn't look right on a 2-door. I hate the center exit exhaust as well. dvandentop 02-27-09, 09:51 PM why dont they release it sooner like this fall? would be smart to do since i am sure it isnt that hard to change tooling for the 2 door body CSX 02-27-09, 09:57 PM I've always said I'll reserve ultimate judgement for when I see one in person...but based off my opinion on the CTS coupe, I don't expect to like it. Something about the proportions of the vehicle, especially when viewed from the rear, simply don't look 'right' to me. However...if they can cut the weight by any significant amount (keeping weight at under than 4000 lbs would be glorious), then the couple will put a serious beating on most factory high performance cars out there. Not even the top-level pony cars will have a chance, much less the CTS-V's current competitors. LV_V 02-27-09, 11:34 PM I would imagine slicing off two doors will slice off somewhere in the neighborhood of 150-200 lbs. The exhaust is a little Jeep SRT8'ish :D thebigjimsho 02-28-09, 12:09 AM Guys, it's been well established by GM engineers that the weight will be almost identical. Expect identical performance numbers... CSX 02-28-09, 12:42 AM Guys, it's been well established by GM engineers that the weight will be almost identical. Expect identical performance numbers... This is what I expect, coupes based of sedans don't tend to change much (look at the Challenger), but hey, who knows what kind of black magic they might work... thebigjimsho 02-28-09, 01:23 AM A GM Performance engineer told me and OldRoadDawg directly, at Monticello, that the coupe would be about the same as the sedan in weight... CVP33 02-28-09, 12:13 PM Charger SRT8 - 4,160 Challenger SRT8 - 4,041 thebigjimsho 02-28-09, 07:29 PM Charger SRT8 - 4,160 Challenger SRT8 - 4,041 yeah, but quite a bit was chopped going from the Charger to the Challenger... atdeneve 03-01-09, 03:55 PM Charger SRT8 - 4,160 Challenger SRT8 - 4,041 They're both still pigs. tblack 03-01-09, 06:32 PM I really didn't plan on seeing my next car when I logged on to my computer today...... but, alas, here it is. I just hope the ride height is lower than the sedan. thebigjimsho 03-01-09, 06:40 PM do it yourself concorso 03-01-09, 07:41 PM Charger SRT8 - 4,160 Challenger SRT8 - 4,041Another comparison could be the last gen. Pontiac Grand Prix. It came as both 4dr and 2dr. The 2dr was at best, about 75 lbs lighter then the 4dr... On a car as heavy as the V, youd be hard pressed to notice 75 lbs. You could make more of a difference going to stickier tires. If youre worried about weight, choose the manual trans and skip the panoramic roof. That will save you 100 lbs+ definitely. concorso 03-01-09, 07:44 PM do it yourselfyes, jeez, leave the ride height alone... concorso 03-01-09, 07:55 PM I will buy your 09 V's then!! I am not a big fan of this... the style doesn't look right on a 2-door. I hate the center exit exhaust as well.Same here...and with any luck, Ill be changing that to a more traditional looking exhaust. My buddies' Cherokee has center exit exhuast and his slacks get dirty most every time he has to use the liftgate, especially if he has a big load that needs to be shoved far in. thebigjimsho 03-01-09, 07:55 PM can't really rag on the piggy Dodge owners anymore... thebigjimsho 03-01-09, 07:56 PM well, I can. my V1 is a non piggy 3850.... atdeneve 03-01-09, 09:49 PM Wasn't referring to the weight. thebigjimsho 03-01-09, 10:37 PM ...especially if he has a big load that needs to be shoved far in. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3265/2641516925_bbf154c238.jpg CVP33 03-02-09, 07:38 PM Once you get 4,160 pounds headed in one direction it's quite a task to get it coaxed into another direction. The current SRT8 will never be the equal of V. thebigjimsho 03-02-09, 11:24 PM why you talkin sense? Jayrcr3 03-03-09, 09:30 PM I'm scared it's gonna have an ugly ass. Does the rear window slope look different? Maybe its just the spy paper that makes it look funny. Richie18 03-03-09, 10:02 PM http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/cadillacctscoupefirstlook.jpg This should give you a pretty good idea on the slope of the roof and the V-coupe in general. I wonder if GM will take this opportunity to add some new OEM wheels to differentiate the V-coupe even more from the sedan, a new 19" design or even 20". I think it would be a great idea, although with the current economic status that may not be something that would have been considered previously. thebigjimsho 03-03-09, 10:56 PM the ass end is indeed polarizing... Slithering_Joe 03-03-09, 11:19 PM What do the companies feel the need to install port-holes on the side of cars? Jus' say'n.... | |
