View Full Version : Bose Stereo in STS Hello,
I recently purchased a 2002 STS and have questions about the Bose sound system. I thought I had set everything up and saved it to memory, but it seems that the stereo settings (bass, treble, midrange and DPS) are all over the place depending on the source or station. Furthermore, it seems that no matter how many times I turn the DPS feature off for both CD and FM, I start the car and it is back on. I have tried everything, including saving to memory everytime I make a change. Can anyone she any light on how this works? Does each FM station get its own settings, or can I standardize for all FM? How do I turn DPS off for good? Finally, I am a little disappointed in the sound. Most of the sound seems to originate from the front speakers, and at higher levels it is great, but at reasonable levels, it sounds tinny. Thanks in advance. On my 2000 Deville, each station "slot" can have it's on settings, which are saved to either driver 1 or driver 2. I would think your STS is pretty much the same. I do not have the BOSE radio however. The Bose system is the same way, each station has individual settings for each driver. Unfortunately the "condition" exists in every setting, and I am trying to find out if it is designed to work (poorly) this way or I actually have an electronic problem before I make an appointment with the dealer. STS 310 08-01-04, 04:53 PM I believe that the settings are in relation to Keyless entry settings #1 and #2 as Smokey indicated.
Some love the Bose some hate it. It all depends on what you want from your music. Thanks for the help. Must be me. I felt the majority of sound came from the front speakers (front doors and dash) and the back speakers weren't doing much, no matter what settings or key (1 or 2) Dealer looked at it today and said that it is working normally. In defense of the system, if you don't mind most of the sound coming from in front of you, it is OK. tsmithlxix 08-03-04, 09:25 PM Each station preset has it's own "tone" settings. (Damn, remember the "TONE" button. :) ) Anyway, in order to set it to the station, just press and hold the preset button 'til you hear a beep. It's great 'cause I have the bass up on my Hip-Hop/R&B stations and down when I listen to Stern. :) Caddy Man 08-05-04, 03:54 PM i used to have the same problem, here is how it works: say you want to set 98.3, turn to that station, then go to the sound options and adjust the DSP, Tone, Balance, whatever, then once you have done that, hit and hold the preset button until you hear the beep. You must do this manually for each station. I belive then, when you switch through stations, they will each hold what you stored for them. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. However how do you get it to hold settings for CD's since there are no stations presets with CD's? I have tried the regular driver memory settings but the sound settings still reverts back to "neutral" settings. Also, the second issue, and it may only apply to the STS/SLS, is that the rear door and rear deck (sub) speakers in the Bose system just don't have the depth and quality of sound as the front speakers. (I prefer to have most sound coming from the rear of the car.) The service manager at my local dealer showed me a 2001 STS on his used car lot and it sounded the same. He even expressed surprise at the difference in sound quality when the sound is shifted more towards the back speakers. ElDawgg 2G 01-06-05, 05:51 PM Hello...My impression is that the system will recognize a CD that it has played before
...(or maybe I'm imagining things).
Adjust settings after inserting CD and it should revert to those settings
the next time you insert that CD.
You can always re-set the memory (driver 1 or 2).
Be aware that the memory system also recalls the seat/wheel/mirror/ac/audio settings
...so make sure everything's where you want it.
Hope this helps...lemme know if I, indeed, imagined this! | |
