I'm a craigslist addict, and I can never turn down anything guitar related, much less free. A short drive to Durham and 40 minutes later, I had guitar that looked like this

fast forward to this morning, after I had sanded all of the terrible paint off, I'm left with this

The guitar is not worth adding clearcoat to and reselling it. It has damage on the backside and it sounds mediocre at best (I have a Taylor if I want a great sounding acoustic) it is though, worth painting something fun on and displaying it.

Ideas? Photoshops welcome!

Maybe the word cadillac in fancy print and a picture of some kind of cadillac, classic, hot rod, whatever?.

I like that, Don't know if I could paint a car though, I really thought about going to the junkyard and just getting emblems and glueing them to the body after painting the body a base color.

My first thought of your gluing things on is cheap (just my opinion) what about those cadillac emblems that some guys have put on their headrests,
decals and stuff would look o.k.,but nothing that protudes, like metal
objects,it reminds of mid 80's camaro and firebird bolt on after market
el-cheapo scoops and trunk air deflectors.

Wow, nice cleanup job. I would put the Cadillac script somewhere on it.

I've been wanting to make an Apple iGuitar, but I planned on doing it with an electric, or a bass. This guitar might be a good opportunity to do that though. Paint the main body silver, with black accents, and enlarge the soundhole to the shape of the apple logo.

I'll start a "show us your instruments" thread tomorrow when I can get some pictures taken.

Paint a black base coat with silver Cadillac script and some silver accent stripes. Lacquer and polish the hell out of it and stick that sucker on a wall!

Sounds good with the black base and silver script, silver base with black script sounds cheap.

Check out what I just found on the internet. There are other pictures on the website and it is an amazing guitar. The script on the side is really cool. http://media.hsn.com/esteban-cadillac-guitar-white-diamond-limited-edition_p-4451751_xp.aspx

LOL. My buddy once found a guitar in the lobby of his building. At any rate it was hillarious. The brand name was "Givson" in a particular script that I'm sure all you guitar people would recognise on sight. It sounded like a guitar to me (I used to play the organ, badly) so I asked him what made it so awful. He hooked up a Fender (Strato-caster, I think) to show me what a good guitar sounds like, side-by-side. The "Givson" sounded muddy! Literally like mud was in the works somewhere.

LOL Givson. Like a Rodex watch eh?

I own a stratocaster actually, love that thing to death. Gibsons, not Givsons, ha, are excellent guitars as well.

I like the silver on black idea with a cadillac script, maybe put one of the slogans from the past on it too, like "Standard of the World," or maybe best slogans through the years. Help me assemble a list folks.

Yeah just like Rodex. Or the "Lippo" lighters.
