Just got a new Silver CTS-V on 2/2/09 after getting rind of my 2006 C6 Z06. I must say that I really like this car and it's totally different from a corvette in every way. It's taking some getting used to, but I like it.

One thing I loved about my Z was the ability to slam the car by cutting the bushings on the transverse leaf spring bolts and turning the bolts.

I know the CTS-V suspension is very different and uses coil springs, etc. Without getting into the entire MRC debate about the shocks, has anyone lowered their car by using springs or by cutting the stock springs 1/2 coil? I know one guy lowered his car by "machining" certain things, but he wouldn't elaborate on the process.

Also, what exhausts are available for the new V, and where are people getting the 4" 90* madrel pipe that's being used to replace the air intake pipe? I know it gives no gains, but it makes the blower louder :cool2:

Thanks,
Mark

Welcome to the site. Do you have Recaro seats, and if so how do you compare them to the ZO6?

LOL... I guess it's a matter of opinion

As for the seats, I have the stadard seats and I think they are light years ahead of the Z06 seats. much more supportive and comfortable IMO.

Does no one have suggestions or answers to my questions?

From what i've read Wait4Me and Dave Golder have done the most mod testing on this car.

Mark,

Congrats on the new ride.

The 09V is pretty new to market, the recession has not helped sales of anything carwise much, and most of the country has been freezing and/or covered in snow.

There is huge untapped potential in this car, a pound or 2 of boost with associated tune will get us to 600 hp without a sweat.

Everything mod wise appears to be in it's infancy right now. Two well known tuners are working with initial cars, Corsa is developing an exhaust, there has been some fiddling with the stock airbox, and there is a PCM replacement tune which has received good feedback, but we probably will need to wait a few months before we start seeing cohesive packages for the big gains.

Having owned a half dozen Vettes before kids, two of which had the MRC suspension technology, lowering MRC cars was always touchy, I suspect this will also come about on the V, but it will take some engineering to do it right.

I'm pretty happy with mine out of the box for now, but am definitely looking forward to what is inevitably coming down the pike mod wise.

Congrats and welcome! We have been doing some early testing on the new 09 CTSV. Gains have been pretty good. We have a pretty nice list of future products, but most of those are either in testing or validation right now. We hope to have our "Box" available soon.

Thank you,

Left someone in your office a voice mail about the lowering springs listed on your website. It says for CTS andCTS-V 09. Are these available and ready to go? What are the specs?

Thanks,
Mark

..I looked into springs also and i know www.roadmagnet.com would jump on the chance but they obviously need a "car" to work on for fitament/testing. Too far for me.
