Miscreant or others with access to GMPD part numbers... GM supposedly makes carbon fiber body panels for the V:

Those are Grand Am cup cars being built... weighing in at 3000lbs race weight!

Can someone look up part #s or pricing? Just for our sick curiosity :lildevil:

Really Really doubt those are made by GM.

Agreed... GM probably does not *make* them... but they are *sold* through the GM performance division and carry a GM part #.

Well heck then get some prices along with those PN#s! LOL

...not sure how to take that... i really thought you meant GM mfg'ing them vs. selling them.

The source of my info is the Powell Motorsports press release (http://www.theracesite.com/index.cfm?pagetype=2&form_article=6719):

The 400 horsepower CTS-V races at 3000 lbs, in virtually standard form. Grand American require mandatory safety equipment.... Available lightweight carbon fiber body parts from GM performance parts completes the car's special equipment.

And the 2004 Grand Am regulations (http://www.grandamerican.com/CONTENT/Docs/PDF/Rules/Grand-Am/2004/GA_%20Cup_06-02-2004.pdf):

CTS-V 2004 -- Tire size: 275/35/18, 5.7 liter, 6 speed, engine RPM limit: 6,500. Allowed: GM Performance Parts body kit...

Full racing carbon fiber kit...anyone want to start guessing on the price?

Unpainted hoods for the Z06 are what 8-900 bucks? I can only imagine what a full body kit would be...I think fenders are $4-500 alone for the ricer cars.

Someone posted a link to a site that was selling a complete race ready car (CF all over) for (IIRC) $60k. Cant find the link or the original post at the moment.

Just a FYI. We manufacture those panels for GM and all the Grand AM Cup teams. All those parts will work on a production car. We have built a few cars in the past 12 months for the street. Total weight savings is in the neighborhood of 200lbs over all the metal panels.

I remember a while back seeing a link on ls1gto.com about a company that makes an entire GTO body as well as some other cars... The total weight saving was 2000 pounds IIRC.. Im going to see if I can find that link.

I think you slipped an extra zero in there, on a sub 2 ton car, a 50% weight savings cannot be acheived by swapping the metal body panels for composite. The CTS-VR Speed WC car is sub 3k lbs IIRC (and that's with no interior and other race spec stuff)

Well, I purchased a few things that were to be used in Grand Am Cup racing that I intend to use on the V. Of course, they are only 245/40 18, not 275/35.:helpless:

haha, yeah, I was confused.. It was a while back so I just got different posts mixed up.. someone said "WOW... If I only had the $$$... put a driveline and interior onto a full-tube frame... can you say stock looking 2500lb GTO" ... Hence my misinformed post.

Anyways, heres some stuff I found.. Looks like the GTO guys have a lot of carbon fiber parts..

how much per panel? I am interested in a trunk lid.

The deck lid in carbon is $895 plus shipping. It has all the production substraight pieces this makes it be a direct bolt on replacement.

Production deck lid 31 lbs
Carbon 13 lbs

Any one else that would like the price list of all the components send an email to info@spectergtr.com

Thanks,
