Don't know how many know this:

A media panel and a fan vote on SuperBowl.com will select the Super Bowl XLIII Most Valuable Player to receive the Pete Rozelle Trophy. The award was renamed in Super Bowl XXV. The MVP will be presented with a 2009 Cadillac CTS-V, the official vehicle of Super Bowl XLIII. The 2009 Cadillac CTS-V will be on the field.

Wow in times of financial troubles, I wonder how much GM had to pay for this "honor" to spotlight a vehicle who's sales numbers can do nothing to really help the company.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's cool as hell to get another V out there in the public eye  , but the practicality side of me has to ask why.

They should have 2 on hand. If the Steelers win, roll the black one out. If the Cardinals win, bring out the red. :yup:

CADILLAC STAYS LOW-KEY AT SUPER BOWL (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/02/03/cadillac-stays-low-key-at-super-bowl/)

Given the financial troubles of General Motors, Cadillac took a low-key approach during Super Bowl post-game festivities and the MVP news conference on Monday.
According to the New York Daily News (http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/2009/02/02/2009-02-02_cadillac_opts_to_keep_mvp_prize_quiet.html), Santonio Holmeshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/02/03/cadillac-stays-low-key-at-super-bowl/#) picked out Cadillac’s most expensive model as his prize for winning the MVP — an Escalade Hybrid Platinum with a sticker price of $85,200.
However, there wasn’t a Cadillac on the field after the game or in the hotel ballroom for the MVP news conference Monday, a change from recent years. As Holmes addressed the media, there was no mention at all of his prize.
Commissioner Roger Goodellhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/02/03/cadillac-stays-low-key-at-super-bowl/#) told the Daily News Cadillac made that decision.
“Given the current business environment, it was much more appropriate we not do that,” Cadillac spokeswoman Joanne Krell said. “We made the decision not to actively participate in the Super Bowl. We congratulate the MVP, it is a great achievement. We are very sensitive to the federal assistance loan we have received and we want to carry on our fiduciary responsibility. The Super Bowl was not a place for us to be this year. That is not to say it’s not a great platform.”
Cadillac has a multi-year contract with the NFLhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/02/03/cadillac-stays-low-key-at-super-bowl/#) to sponsor the MVP prize, and Krell added that Holmes will still get the car.
Goodell indicated that Cadillac wasn’t the only sponsor to treat the Super Bowl differently this year.
“Some of our business partners decided to take a different approach around the game,” Goodell said. “But we respect that.”

As nice as it would have been to see a new V on the field this year, I agree with the position taken. And he chooses and Escalade Hybrid... Nice find.

Of all the times to go ahead with some marketing. I think it was a blunder not to have the whole fleet there. What a great opportunity to move some product.

I was at the NFL Pro Bowl a few years ago and Cadillac had a CTS-V and XLR sitting in front of Aloha Stadium and the MVP of the Pro Bowl was awarded a new Cadillac. I haven't done any researched, but I wonder if this years MVP will be awarded a Cadillac?
