Hey everyone for taking the time to look at this thread and hopefully point me in the right direction.

I just bought a 97 deville for a winter car, and was hoping to give it a little bump.

I'll be buying everything used except for the HU, as I'll probably keep that from car to car, and crutchfield throws in all the extra goodies free.

I was thinking about:

Pioneer DEH-P6000 (looking to spend $200 for HU and installation crap)

2 Alpine SPR-69C's in the rear shelf ($150 budget)

2 JL Audio TR525-CXi for the front doors

2 Alpine Type R SWR-1042D 10" ($200 or so without box, I'll make myself)

Kenwood KAC-9104D for th subs ($200 or so)

I'm really looking a system that sounds good, and has solid, punchy bass, and can get loud. I'm not interested in anything too extreme, and I HATE when the bass drowns out the music.

Will this system get loud, with good punchy bass? Or will it just have good bass, but not be able to get too loud?

I'm wondering if it would be better to invest in nicer speakers, and power them all with an amp, and just get rid of the subs? I'd rather have the music louder and clean while still having bass, than just booming bass.

Kenwood KAC-9104D= the best amp ever.

I have one driving triple 12'' Kenwood KFC-W3514DVC's, making for the loudest sub system I've ever heard.

well in my opinion Pioneer makes a pretty lame HU no matter how much you spend on it, well really Pioneer makes pretty lame everything!...I'd look at an Alpine or a Kenwood as far as the HU goes, stay clear of Sony or Pioneer.

on another note if you're going for sound quality, i would highly suggest getting a 4-channel amp (400w-800w) and 2 sets of some serious component speakers with the tweeters and cross-overs, you will have ear piercing highs and fantastic mids 360 degress, the two 10" Type-R's will hit the lows HARD! i guarantee it!

1000/1 JL amplifier feeding a 13.5" JL W7...literally takes your breath away! can't even light a BIC lighter in the car!
