A buddy of mine is selling his 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham, it is originally a Las Vegas car and has only been in Illinois for a year. It has ~67K miles on it. It is also one of my favorite colors: Dark Cherry Metallic with tan leather interior.

Garage kept, runs great and body is in good shape despite the age. He was asking $5K for it.

He is offering to trade straight up for my 1996 Supercharged Tahoe LT 4x4. The Tahoe has over $10K in mods, but we all know that is worth squat for resale. The Tahoe has 148K on the body and 38K on a rebuild.

The Tahoe makes 9 mpg in the city... don't know if I can get $5K for it because it is so heavily modded and only caters to a certain audience. The Tahoe is not flawless.. it has a dent in the passenger front fender and some random dings on the body. I guess it is in typical condition for this age truck.

Try trade without the blower. Then, make the money back on ebay. Or, put the bower on the Caddy!

I think it may be a little too much for it, 93's don't seem to be that much compared to 94-96 fleetwoods... found this one http://austin.craigslist.org/cto/1007161016.html, road trips are always fun.

Try selling your truck on EBay with a reserve if there is no takers then trade it.. or if you really like the car trade it, its up to you. Looks like a very nice cadi.

Thanks for the input. I will have to think about it.

I was watching a '93 Fleetwood on eBay this morning and was surprised on how much it brought:

That is far more than the Tahoe is worth...

I wanted a 2 door Tahoe or Yukon originally but ran across this monster when I was in Florida in October. We will see what happens..

Go with the Caddy, I say. Truck looks nice as well, but not when gas will go up to $4 a gallon again. God Bless,Joe

I get the feeling he wants a toy, you want a ride.
GO FOR IT.:bouncy:
The '93 may not be worth many $$ now, but it has low miles and the value has nowhere to go but up.

I dont know man, thats a nice truck. But in the long run, I do see that caddy being a better value.

I'd get that '93, only because it's my favorite color combo, and it's SO CLEAN!!

Didn't you just acquire that Tahoe recently? Is there anything mechanically wrong with the Tahoe?

Yes, I purchased it at the end of October... don't you know I have vehicle ADD? This is my 15th daily driver in 2 years :bonkers:

Nothing wrong mechanically except it needs a actuator for the 4x4 which I ordered, doesn't affect driveability. I drove it 1,500 miles from Ft. Lauderdale to Chicago and have been driving it 38 miles roundrip almost daily.

And that '93 is a fine, protective cocoon around your significant other when she needs wheels.:cool2:

I think you should weigh your need for a vehicle that can haul cargo and your desire to have a Fleetwood Brougham as a daily driver. But then, if you can have both, then by all means, buy the Fleetwood!

I really like that truck. I would NOT do the trade but I'm a little less than "infatuated" with the '93-'96 FWB body style. The truck looks tough and has a nice stance!

I hear ya, but all these cheap cars I buy are just temporary... been saving my pennies to pay cash for something semi-exotic in the next year or so. :stirpot: Also saving up for a drivetrain transplant in the Fleetwood (440hp/460 ft/lbs). All three of our cars are paid for and I want to keep it that way.

Don't get me wrong, this Tahoe is a beast and one of a kind.... but I better get out of it before gas climbs to $4.00 a gallon again
