: HELP replacing stereo in 93 seville

01-28-09, 03:25 AM
ok so i decided to go with the aftermarket stereo instead of fixing my bose. i want to find out everything i am going to need to do. i have read over plenty of threads and have found out a lot but want to double check on a couple things.

i plan to run all new speaker wires and replace the old speakers.
can i take the old wiring and bose amps out?

with the "brains" of the stereo being in the trunk i will need to run wires to the dash - this harness works and is the correct one right? http://www.installer.com/item/display_item.php?it=70-1856

here is where i got confused... in a couple threads i read that you have to have the data wires, power, and ground hooked up to the old stereo. when talking about the "old stereo", does this mean the controls from the dash?

youre right up 28 sts2003, cool! i live in mt. washington over on the duquesne incline side.

kc in az - i hope kurt warner is praying cause that is about all that will stop farrior and harrison on sunday. the cardinals are getting plucked on sunday.

sts2003 i dont know why everyone hates big ben so much..sure he is an ******* off the field but he is a great QB. he is so mobile and has done a excellent job with a shitty offensive line. we played one of the toughest schedules this season in the NFL.

on topic.. i found another tuner bypass: http://www.qualitymobilevideo.com/70-1857.aspx this one came up when i searched "tuner bypass 93 seville bose"

i have a 93 sts with the bose system in it. i dont want to use the bose amplifiers. so which of the tuner bypasses do i get? the 70-1856 or 70-1857
here are the links again:
70 1856: http://www.audiosavings.com/products/METRA-70-1856-1990-96-CADILLAC-CDANTENNA-WIRE-HARNESS.g8902b92d-0689-4173-879e-07fe1bc82fff.r3a8bd.aspx
70 1857: http://www.qualitymobilevideo.com/70-1857.aspx

the 70 1856 says it is compatible with the seville 92-95 model(console shift)

also has anyone used this deck installation kit by scosche? - http://www.crutchfield.com/p_142GM1583B/Cadillac-In-dash-Receiver-Kit.html

its almost twice as much as the one by metra but it looks a little nicer.

what guage speaker wire do i need? is there anything else i need? heres what i got: Pioneer deh-p6800mp head unit, wiring harness, Infinity Reference 4022i 4" speakers, Infinity Reference 9623i 6"x9" speakers.

i think this system is gonna sound great once i get it hooked up :) the head unit has a 7 band eq and 22w rms power. i may add tweeters and a amp for the 6x9s in the future, but i want to get this setup installed and working first. i wish there was a write that was step by step on how to do this! it would be very helpful.. if i dont pay to have it installed i will do a write up on it.

wanna save some money
there a place by me called millerstown pic a part
theres a white 94 SLS on the yard with the tuner bypass harness in the trunk (I know cuz i removed it and decided id never need it so i left it)
also i recommend going to a salvage yard as you can get the non bose brackets which will allow you to mount a 5.25 speaker in there rather than wedge a 4 inch speaker into the bose boxes..

cool thanks for the tip 2003sts.. i already got my infinitys so i probably will just be going with the 4" up front..

it will take a bit to do the whole install, took me and a buddy about 4 hours to do the full install on my 97 ETC

ok sounds good. is there a head unit installation kit in the dash by any chance? i need a dash kit so that would be perfect.. which one have you used in previous installs? this is the one i found.. http://www.fadfusion.com/selection.php?product_item_number=20082400494

the scosche one i was looking at is made for an odd shaped head unit..
