: 11.85 1/4 mile today

Just got back from the track and ran a 11.85 today. That is headers, exhaust and a 2lb pulley increase and tune. Will put the 4 lb pulley on Monday or Tuesday and re-dyno before we do heads and cam.

PS2's. Stock tire just 20"s instead of 19"s.

Sick! I have been waiting for this. I knew the times would be coming. I assume she is a stocker.... I can't wait for some road course write ups. You paid for it and you drive it. CONGRATS!! Shut em down!!!

What do you think you would have turned with the stock pulley and just a tune? Cecil.........

Nice run Dave!

Curious about your pulley findings. Did you guys settle on a 4lb being the max? How much hp did the 2 and 4lb applications give you?

How hard is it to take the stock pulley off because it looks like you need a press.

Good Run

I knew someone would break into the 11's with that car.....just didn't expect it sooooooo soon.

One question? Manual or Auto......I didn't see that in your post. And briefly describe your launch technique......Good 60 ft. time, BTW.

Nice Post.

Outstanding!

Refresh my memory---what was the dyno results, with these mods, that generated this run?

I've very interested in that, for I wouldn't mind shooting for that RWHP/RWTQ number.

We have only tested the two pound. Four pound will go on this week before heads and cam.

Stock pulley is way to risky to remove. We have removed one, but i really think you will break 3 out of 10 blowers removing it. What we have been doing is removing the snout, then machining it.

It is an Auto. John has a 6-speed that will be here in a few weeks. That will be fun. Just did a burnout, and took off TC.

I may not have read correctly, but is what you are changing the blower pulley? If it is, have you looked at changing the engine crank pulley? With my f150 Lightning, I have changed both very easily - crank pulley and the Eaton blower pulley. I swapped the crank pulley for one that added 6 extra lbs of boost, and then I swapped the blower pulley for one that came from an 03 Cobra. I was able to achieve 16lbs of boost on the stock engine inbternals and it runs fine - fine enough for 12.20's in a 5000lb truck. I am thinking that the CTS-v could safely see an addition of at least 6lbs as long as it had the right tune and wasn't over-spinning the rotor packs inside.
One item to watch when increasing boost is the length of the drive belt. If it is too long, then you will slip the belt and not realize the boost level you should. Many of us had gone to the Goodyear Gatorback belts, and those do alright in fighting against slip. Others had added extra tensioners such as the Metco belt tensioners but that puts a huge stress on the snout of the blower and causes premature bearing/rotor pack failure.

Was joking about the other thread that showed the youtube vid of a "stock" AMG running 11.80.

As long as stock still allows for slicks and a tune.

I didn't even know that was posted yet. I was out of the loop today I guess. It wasn't wet, just reflection.

I went to Dallas today to pick up the Original V I ordered a few months ago. It is white with Recaro's and without Sunroof. So research will be multiplied by 2 starting tomorrow :) Bought the silver one to tide me over so will be finishing that one up in the next week or so will either sell it or John will drive it until his 6 speed comes in. If anyone knows of a loaded 6 speed in Silver with Recaro's and no roof please PM me. His got caught up in the plant closure.

That makes sense. For a bit, it really blew me away that it looked wet and you still ran that time. Have you posted the RWHP that you achieved for that run? I remember that initially (stock) it was around 474 and the video states 610. Is that correct?

What's the estimate cost to get there and do you see any issues in longevity/durability of that setup?

I would assume that a pulley, exhaust and tune would yield in the 50-60rwhp gains - so the 610hp is a crank estimate...

haterinc
01-29-09, 12:35 PM
yes the advertised 610 and 660 on their site are crank estimates per James at Hennessey

The Tony Show
01-29-09, 01:16 PM
Most tuners quote crank hp using a drivetrain loss correction factor (an improperly calculated one, I might add). Assuming this to be true of Hennessey's claims, that would mean they arrived at the number by taking the whp gain seen on the dyno and adding 20%. I think it's safe to assume that their pulley, tune and exhaust showed a 40whp gain on the dyno (thus 50 crank hp, or 610 total).

Where did you buy your headers? Cost? How difficult to install? HP gain?
