I had a backfire and now my intake whistles. i can reach in with a screwdriver and push the blow off flapper slightly and stop the whistle but it comes back as soon as i rev the motor. how do you make this seal fit a bit tighter without taking off the intake? of course the sst fuel line is blocking the access and i think it is right behind the p/s pump also? tight confines. i really don't want to replace the flapper seal. can you even get new ones?

It IS behind the P/S pump. I think you CAN replace the seal, but you ARE going to have to remove the intake. Perhaps it just needs a little cleaning after the over pressurization event. It's proper name is an over pressurization valve.

it is red/orange so i assume it is silicone. and i tossed my old intake with a spare seal. the used intake worked fine till the motor sneezed. bad fpr i believe was the cause of poor starting. tinkering with this car is getting to be a full time job.

Probably correct.
