Ive got a high flow cat without the air tube (the tube goes to airpump) that I purchased for another vehicle but never used. I was thinking about putting it on my 89 Brougham but was wondering what if anything would happen without that tube from the airpump hooked up. Any info appreciated.

It will work just fine. You may here what appears to be a vacuum leak if the tube isnt hooked up. That is just the AIR pump pushing air out.

You can get a lot of money from a scrap yard for the original cat. . Drill a hole just adhead of the cat and weld a piece of pipe in (JB weld will work if you don't have a welder). The air tube provides extra air to promote combustion of unburnt fuel and exhaust gasses. Check emissions laws before disabling air pump, leaving off air tube, or removing the old catalytic converter. There's a $425 gross poluter fine where I live if you caught with any emissions components removed or dysfunctional.
