So with a child on the way I decided to pass my 07 Grand Cherokee LTD to my wife and get myself a new car. I previously owned a 2002 Seville STS which was horrible so I've spent the last few years driving 3 different BMW 3-Series, a convertible, coupe, and the redesigned for 06 sedan. Wonderfully performing cars, but absolute crap in build quality.

Finding myself looking for something other than a BMW I wandered accross a 2008 STS V8 RWD with 20k miles in Thunder Gray Chromaflair. Loaded with the Nav and Moonroof and all the other bells and whistles. Took a it for a test drive and fell in love with it. Maybe it was due to the fact it was 3 degrees outside and this Caddy had a heated steering wheel....

Anywise I ended up paying $22,750 at the dealer, which is by far the lowest I've seen for anything that isn't a salvage or previously wrecked 2008.

So now I'm stuck trying to figure out all of those great bells and whistles...2 main questions:

1) The car came with only one of the Keyless Access remotes. I found a second on eBay that has the key uncut including the remote for $70. I ordered it but then noticed both the original and the newly purchased are both #2's. When programming this will I have the option to program the new one for the #1 position even though it says #2 on top? I'm thinking that the numbers on the remote may not mean much and are simply there so you don't get them mixed up. Anyone have any experience with this?

2) The nav only had the 2007 disc, which I found to be weird, although the car maybe was produced late 2007. Also, only the east USA disc was with the car. Is it true that 2007 and newer owners are allowed 2 upgrades over the life of the car at no cost through GM Nav Disc?

3) Finally, does anyone know how to get the steering wheel to automatically tilt up when you kill the ignition? I found this feature nice in my previous 02 for getting in and out of the vehicle, but haven't figured out how to get it setup in my new (to me) '08.

Any help on these issues is greatly appreciated!

As far as your steering wheel, that's saved with your driver exit settings. You have to press the "config" hard key and then "set driver exit" on the screen with your seat and steering wheel in their desired exit positions until it beeps twice if i remember right.

Congradulations on your purchase! If you didn't get the 3 Owners Manuals, download them from elsewhere on this site. It has the remote access programming procedure. Up to 4 remotes can be programmed so you may need to clear them all and start from scratch because remotes 3 & 4 don't get associated with a driver or remote-start the car.

The manual says you are entitled 2 Nav updates but last I checked the Website, the most current is back-ordered. I highly recommend the VIN-check thread on the CTS-V area of this forum. It will show the Dealer-performed maintenance history of your car and the 'Inservice date'. This date drives your warranty and Nav update qualifications.

Cliff handled your other question. Why not ante-up to Supporting Membership status. The site may be free but it costs $ to run.

Happy Motoring.
