I raced a GTO in our gm plant parking lot Sun. We had about an 1/8 of a mile and made it to about 70 before we had to put the binders. What a blast!!! :) The bad news is I lost 4 of our 6 passes. The good news is he beet me even when we swithced cars for 2 passes. This is my 1st 400 H.P. car. I needed a little practice on the launches. Once I started hitting the launch I could get him. The GTO did have different tires and a cool air intake and hood to help him out. We both agreed that all things being equal v owners should not fear the aussie goat.

Was this an '05 GTO with the LS2 motor(400 hp) or was it an '04 with
an aftermarket hood?

No offense, but I would agree you need practice. You should be beating the hell out of the GTO. It runs a 14.0 and the V should be running mid to low 13's. That's a couple car lengths.
Keep practicing

sorry but the goat ran 13s in a lot of reviewsThe Gm press GTO they gave out had computer difficulties they didn't catch until after most of the initial tests. Rather unforgivable if you ask me. all things being equal the CTS-V should beat the GTO. All bets are off once modified though.

Lets no forget this was not a bone stock GTO.

Can we forget you didn't win 6 out of 6?

I was a very active member on LS1GTO and NewAgeGTO prior to getting my CTS-V. I can tell you with CAI they are easily getting 13.0 - 13.2 passes in the quarter with 6 speeds. The auto's are closer to 13.5-13.7 w/o converter.

The new GTO has 400hp? Ugh.

2005 GTO's are getting a revised rear Fascia, Dual side exhaust and *drum roll* an LS2.

For the money though the V is still the better buy IMOHO... though I wish the 2005 V had an LS2 instead of an LS6, but you get a more modern Sigma Chassis, better brakes, 4-doors, nicer interior, real trunk, better electronics and a sun roof !gasp!. Worth the $15K extra IMOHO.

That GTO is a very nice car, to be sure. 90mm throttle body, damn them!

Still they are saying it will weigh in right around the V, that's gotta suck for those guys.

This is why I hope they put the LS2 into the CTS-V
