I'm looking for the part number for this seal that goes on the end of the front cam cover. Three little bolts and seals the end of the camshaft shaft that holds the water pump pully.

Is there a site that shows parts diagrams and the GM Part numbers?

I looked on GM Parts Direct and couldn't see the seal in their diagrams.

Is this something that should always get replaced?

Thanks!

I replaced mine when I did my HG job. Not sure what you are working on. I would say change it if you can, but you can try not replacing it - maybe you can get away with it, and it is not a huge job to change if it leaks. It came in my Felpro kit, but I found this at Rock Auto for you:

1998 CADILLAC SEVILLE STS 4.6L 281cid V8 MFI (9) : Engine : Camshaft

Thanks, You got me to go to their site, which is very good!

I was looking up some other seals/gaskets and Fel-pro language has the following:

Conversion Gasket Set: (What does Conversion refer to?)

Dual Overhead Camshaft Engine; 2nd Design; w/part number stamp on timing cover; PermaDryŽ molded rubber oil pan gskt. incl.
:: (What does 2nd design and Part# stamped on timing cover mean?)

Thanks for the link.

I also herd somewhere about two different rear main seals?
