I've done the whole heated seat element fix before; but I don't remember how to determine element failure (I know that its usually the element). In my 02 Seville, the passenger heated seat button will switch on to both high and low. However, there is be no heat and I will hear a clicking sound every 30 seconds or so (it is the same sound you hear when you first press the button).
I don't remember hearing the clicking when the other seat failed, so I was thinking that it could possibly be a module under the seat... I just wanted to double check.

Disconnect connectors C-2 (4 pin) and C-3 (2 pin) from the heated seat module.
Check resistance between the two pins of connector C-3. Should be 1.5 - 10 ohms. If not, seatback heater is bad.
Check resistance between pins A & B of connector C-2 (all four wires are black--Pins A & B are both across from the rounded end tab). if resistance not between 1.5 - 10 ohms, the cushion heater is bad. The other two wires in connector C-2 are for the temp sensing element. Resistance should be between 850-1150 ohms at moderate temperature. If not the sensing element is bad.

Its the element. I am trying to find a site to order the part from (I found that it used to be 25755075 at GMpartsdirect) but I can't find it. Anyone know where to get the new element?

Where can I buy the element? GMpartsdirect doesn't list it anymore.

There are lots of threads on repairing the elements, replacing the elements, parts, etc. Search for "repair heated seats".
I think I would try repairing first. But that's just me.

This is good information, but where is the "heated seam module" from which I am supposed to "disconnect connectors . . .":cookoo:

Under the seat?
Is the heated seat module the same as the relay? I have not been able to locate the relay, but the behavior of my seat points to a bad relay.
I assumed they were different. Thanks for the confirmation. I still have the one question remaining.
Where is the heated seat relay on a 98 Deville?
If it has heated seats, I think it is under the seat.
