Thanks CadV, my only question left is the one shown by the company is probably for the V1 cars and i don't know if the mirrors are the same for the V2 cars. But, my car should be delivered in about 2 weeks and i'll just take measurements to answer that one myself. Cecil........

You getting the new V2? If so get the 23mm one. He has a mount for the 2008 CTS which is identical to the V2.

and for electrical wiring on a escort that you attach to the mirror, what do you do? Do you just drop the wire to center console, or is hidden some way?

Thanks,
Dave

OK, I've read many reviews, asked many people what they would buy... but I get varied answers and opinions.
Which brand and model would the forum recommend. against the different types if radar & laser including the dreaded Photo radar that is a big time money maker? Seems the folks out there racking in the cash have a new and improved system every year.

I would get the V1 because it has front and back 360 degree sensors (Including 2 laser detectors) with the directional arrows in the front. It is upgradeable to avoid having to spend money buying a brand new detector for a specific feature.

My complaint is big companies coming out with a new detectors every year and the guy who bought one last year gets frustrated. With a V1 any new technology you can upgrade too.

The V1 has still not added GPS blocking, a tech which has been out for a couple of years now with a few other competitors.

If someone wants to believe in some kind of magic in a V1's detection abilities, that's their choice. But as has already been proven by more than one source, it's slightly better in some circumstances, and slightly worse in others. But the real world differences are not enough between it and several of the other top units to claim that any detector is "the best" It merely comes down to each unit's specific features, not their abilities as a detector.

True, thats why my opinion for the V1 was based off front n back sensors, upgradeable, and directional arrows. Getting into the detection results is a whole other story that has been beat to death.

I guess V1 doesn't think the GPS tech is worth anything. I went into my V1 config and tweaked a bunch of the settings. False alarms rarely happen anymore.

Or perhaps to add it isn't a simple software change, but would require an actual hardware redesign. :yup:

True but why change the hardware when you can adjust a simple setting?

Because in order to have GPS filtering, the unit needs a GPS receiver installed as well as the extra circuitry. Just can't do that with tweaks alone.
