I thought it might be fun to start a thread where we post our pictures. Here's a polaroid I found the other day, taken in 1983 with my pride and joy.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid65/pa46f8f913e9d5c3162148e16e80e9933/fbe77e74.jpg
I've put on about 40 pounds since then.

EDIT: I'm sorry if you're having to wait a long time, but Imagestation is running a little slow today. I hope it gets better soon.

Lord Cadillac
06-19-03, 12:07 AM
Cool idea, Elvis. :D

In order to post up a picture without having it as an attachment, you can't use QuickReply (unless you know html). There's a little IMAGE icon in the full-reply text box and it just asks you where the image is located on the net. Then, when someone pulls up the thread, it goes out and finds that image and posts it up.. Like this:

I'll never get over Sal's picture. This is not how I pictured an admin of a Cadillac site and an 80's site, and as i recall a travel agent of some sort. Sorry, i dont have any digital pictures of myself, just picture a cross between Lurch from the Addams Family and Private Pyle from Full Metal Jacket....it's not pretty

I believe it was taken at the Las Vegas Limousine show in '98 or '99.
I'm the guy on the left in the rear. I didn't get my Cadillac shirt until after the picture was taken.

BTW: The Caddy in the background is one of our two '96 Fleet Durability cars. Cadillac canceled the program after this and I'm not aware of them ever doing it again.

So if an Infinity is a real car, what are you doing on this Forum?? Excuse me for exercising my freedom of speech rights, but where I come from NO ONE ACTUALLY DRIVES AN IMPORT THAT I'VE SEEN. I'll also take your anti-canuck comments, it works both ways.

He is on this forum because he is a cadillac enthusiast, and wants to learn about his car..... Granted, he may not have an infiniti now, but he still has the right to like them...... I love cadillac (cant you tell, I am a moderator on a cadillac forum and have the highest post count :D ), and I want one, but I love my infiniti..... This car has something about it, maybe not as captivating as a cadillac, but its close.......

So just because YOU or some of the people around dont drive an infiniti (or any other import), doesnt make them more/less a car.....

And the G20s (especially good ones) are really hard to come by...... Even more so than the Q45 or J30s....

I'm closed minded, eh? Well so far I am taking ALL the insults for having a FWD Cadillac and no one elso has the guts to defend them with me! I am very open minded until the AMERICAN CADILLAC I drive is put down on its home Forum. I think the other Canucks might be too afraid to open their mouths and go through what I have. And we should not have our Caddies referred to as Womans cars, (I expect that from Kat, but no one else) but if that makes you happy, I'll go buy a skirt and purse tomorrow, maybe that would make you happy? I like peach-colored lipstick.

Wes, I am on this Forum to learn about the Caddy I LOVE, also. I get the impression Stoneage doesnot really care about what he has UNTIL he gets another Infinity. I did not put down imports, as you may remember I was considering a Honda at one point. I simply do not see imports where I am from, everyone buys American Cars including me. Now that these children know it may bother me what they referred my car to, they will keep on throwing insults, I also expect that. I've also taken crap for owning a few Chrysler products that were all in high school, these are more American than anything else IMO.

ralphie , go back and read some of your comments in this thread and a couple of other threads , then tell me you werent putting down imports , you kept it up and i decided to defend my prefred car just like you defend your car

and i do enjoy my caddy , but at the same token i was more satisfied with my old ride , i never bashed your FWD caddy , i just bash the serious quality controll issues at GM in the 80s and early 90s that gave the Transverse mounted 4 litre caddilac a bad rap ,

now i will take a moment to point out my ignorance here , i now realize you werent bashing all imports , your caddilac is a import since you live in canada , but this also points out some ignorance on your part as you stated
and i quote "NO ONE ACTUALLY DRIVES AN IMPORT THAT I'VE SEEN" up there everyone drives a import , unless canada has its own car manufacturer outside the bombarier city car. and dont count the american cars your building for us , we sent those there to save labor dollars , and judgeing by my dads silverado were getting our moneys worth , what a heep

ok , im done here , ralphie can e me off board if he wants to continue this

The Infiniti G20 is a hell of a nice car. Comes stock with an SR20DE in it. The engine stock can support up to 400 hp on stock internals. The aftermarket for it is pretty much as good as any Civic or Mustang engine out there so finding parts will not be hard. And also you can make your own SR20DET

OK Shaun, I found some pics. The first is my baby.
Notice the custom stripe kit. The bike is a dark blue and Suzuki chose to stripe it with gold and RED! I changed the red to blue and the bike looked great. One of a kind.

I'm still looking for a pic of my dirt bike (the XT500) but here's one of my favorites. I sold this one to buy the Katana but have always regretted selling it. This bike was money in the bank. Guaranteed a collector's item.
Notice the pinstripping, Honda did not stripe these bikes and it REALLY needed it. I used gold and silver. Also, I added the RWL tires. I had a thing for RWL tires.

Sweet. That H1 is nice. I had a 75 Z1 I was rebuilding not too long ago. Unfortunatly the sweet deal I got on it was too good to be true. The built up motor that I got had a bad cylinder, I found wrist pin clip and some of the cylinder wall floating in the oil pan  . So it got sold off along with the car :( . Is that a 750 or a 600 Kat? I've become a fan of the old GSX1100. The full framed ones with the big seat and bikini fairing. Once I start geting on top of things again I might start looking for one of them. Nice little collection you had there though. The old Jap bikes deffinatly had a lot of character.

Since we all talking about bikes here maybe someone can explain to me what was the big deal with the Hurricane bikes a few years ago. I was younger back then and paid no mind to the news.

Scrapyard
07-18-03, 01:03 AM
It was the "Me Too" bike of the day. If you had a hurricane you were big pimp sportbiker. Honda's had a pretty good track record with the CBR's over the years but it wasn't anything super special. It was more of a jumping off point for honda to get serious in racing and the race rep streetbike market.

Katshot
07-18-03, 03:00 PM
Shaun,
The sport bike was a Katana 1100 and the Honda was a V45 Sabre (750cc)
The "Hurricanes" were just the first of the CBR-generation Honda racing bikes. Honda actually had a very good reputation on the track prior to the CBR series. The V4-engine-powered "Interceptor" series actually started the Japanese road racing bikes on the streets, and spawned several powerhouse bikes which were serious muscle for both the street and track.

You know, I didn't even realize that was a Saber untill you pointed it out. A buddy of mine has/had an '81 just like that. Minus the pinstrip of course. That was a fun bike. He would ride the piss out of that thing. Not only could he get that big old pig of a bike to rail but he'd carry 3rd gear wheelies like it was his job.

Katshot
07-19-03, 09:05 AM
Did you ever see or ride a V65 Sabre? Damn shame the Harley-prompted tariff tax caused the '84 and newer bikes to be heavily de-contented (750s turned into 700s, heavy cost-cutting on the bikes, etc.) but the engine in that baby was a monster!!

I think you're confused. There was only two Sabre models, the V45 and V65. The "Cruiser" version you mentioned was the Magna. The Shadow line was a different line and was powered by V-Twins.

Actually, I'm not a Camaro fan either. At least not of the 93 on models. They feel like more of a tank then my Fleetwood did. I'm really not much of a late model muscle car guy at all any more. The factory has corupted what the original spirit of a muscle car was. Striped down, bare bones, big engine monster. Now it's all about comfort, gas milage, emisions controls, saftey. SAFTEY!? Hot Rods arn't safe and they sure as hell weren't all that comfortable. Not to start a big debate over this. I know saftey and air cleanlyness are important and all that crap. And Most of it's forced on the companies by government mandates and BS like that, but I feel the catagorey's soul has been crushed over the years.

True enough. But you have to remember that back in the 60's when muscle cars got started, there weren't many cars that had anything other than the "basics". Cars were a lot more basic than now. Only a few cars had options other than drivetrain-related. Hell, option lists on most cars consisted solely of driveline items, and paint colors.

Hell, I didn't even have a car with A/C until the mid 80's. My wife always had the nice cars and I got the "project cars". Fast and Cool, but no comfort or toys, other than stereo stuff and additional lighting (loved my tunes and hated driving at night).

It died when the moms started to compete on who had the most toys in their SUVs. I was waiting for this lady to park her 'Burban so I could grab the space a little past her. She was yapping on the phone that she didn't move so I stole her spot. She rolled down her window yelling "Excuse me that was my spot" I quickly told her to call someone who cares cause she took too long. She decided to park in front of my truck so I could'nt get out until she was good and done shopping, but it backfired on her cause I told the manager to call the tow truck and for the heck of it I stayed there until she was leaving the store. The look on her face was classic. I just waved at her and told her to call a cab from that phone. :D

Somebody douse this guy with a bucket of water.

Anyway here's me trying to get the dog to wear antlers last Christmas. He was not cooperating. And yes, he has one brown eye that reflects green-gold, and one ice-blue eye that reflects blood red.

I had to search for a while to find a picture of me. I have the most-photographed baby and the most-photographed dog in the world. We've taken over 800 shots since we got the digital camera and I found three with me in them. That's just not right.
