: Enough Already! If you are really serious about traction here's the answer. [PIC]

With all the Winter tire talk, I've decided to go ahead with my first mod to the car.

I've installed a system to give guaranteed traction. I can't corner as well, but I'm happy with the security of knowing I will make it home.

Leave the Saint Bernards at home, the CTS-V is here!

Let's see here...electric motor-driven track units with say a 30HP motor in each track, and alternators in the rear hub units.

I think you might be on to something here!

I haven't had enough seat time with them yet. I have noticed that driving on the highway, the off ramp is anywhere you want it to be!

holy crapola was the snow thick on the highways today...Ironically every single vehicle i saw off the road..and even one ONTOP of the mediun -lol...they were all suv's - go figure. AWD and people think they have tires made for the snow.

. AWD and people think they have tires made for the snow.

It's unreal they don't understand that four wheel drive does not mean more wheel stop. Once the vehicle is moving all bets are off.

There's a joke we use when teaching racing/driving school. Over-steer is when you hit the tree with the rear of the car, under-steer is when you hit the tree with the front of the car.

These track systems are always on display at the international oil show here.
Although back when I was in the oil patch, they gave me a 1970 Ford half ton 6 cyl 4spd standard (With bull low) a tow strap and a radio! My daily driver was a 1956 Chev with a 383 Chrysler (yes, not a misprint!) motor and bias ply summer tires. Now I don't consider going out in snow in town without my 4 x 4. I've become a wimp.
