: No AM Reception, 2004 DeVille

About a year ago, I had an FM transmitter installed for use with my i-Pod. It switches off the antenna connection to avoid interference and inouts the signal in FM format. This works fine, but when I turn it off, I get excellent FM reception but virtually no AM reception. Are there separate antennas for AM and FM in this car or more than one antenna input cable?

I had the same problem soon after the installation of the transmitter and the installer said that it was a bad antenna connection. He took the radio out and did something to the antenna connection and it has worked fine for about 10 months. Now it is doing the same thing.

Any ideas?

Problem is solved!

I checked the antenna on the rear winshield and it was fine.

So, I gave up and took the car back to the audio system installer and he found a defective antenna adapter cable.

The cable was replaced and my sensitivity on all bands is back to normal.

Thanks for your guidance.
