I know sometimes snow on the sensors can screw mine up. Can't tell if snow is an issue where you live based on your supplied info. Also, make sure you did not accidentally hit the parking assist off button. My 07 has one of those buttons, and I am thinking yours might too.

Hey coral-reef.

Did you figure this out and get your audio back for the parking sensors?

I had the same problem, turned out one of the sensors came unplugged. The little clip that had held it in broke. I had to use tape to hold it on tight, and now it works fine.

if a sensor is bad will it also mute the sound? if so, how does one know which is bad?

will confirm nothing is unplugged 1st.

Yes, the sound was muted when it was unplugged. It could also be a bad wire (although I have heard of the sensors getting damaged.)

I just purchased my used 05 ext. I have noticed that i have the same problem. My single red light continues to blink but no yellow light nor any sound!!! i backed into my fence the first time i tried because i wanted to see how accurate they were!!! damn things don't work at all.. Im planning on taking my truck to get it fixed soon if nobody on here has any other advice for this problem. thanks.

If anyone knows how to diagonse the sensors to find the failed ones, and could share with us, that'd be much appreicated.

I dont wanna replace them all if I dont have to.

Some beeping assistance when I back up would be GREAT.

Well i finally got to the bottom of this problem. I got bored this evening and decided to go outside and see if i could tackle this sensor issue.. I crawled under the back bumper and inspected all the sensor connections. I noticed that one sensor wasn't even plugged in. So i plugged it in and drove the vehicle in reverse. I ended up with the SAME issue. Just one red blinking light with no noise.

So then i crawled back under there and noticed that the connection on that plug wasn't the greatest so i pushed it on as tight as i could and tightened it down as best i could with a zip tie. I then hopped back in and drove in reverse and all of the sudden there was a yellow light as well as noise. It is now working perfectly!!! This would be much easier to trouble shoot with two people so the one under the car could squeeze the plugs tighter as the other person keeps there foot on the brake to see if the yellow light comes on!! good luck.

Congratulations, That is exactly what was wrong with mine. I used tape to create the good connection, but the zip tie seems like a great Idea. By the way, I have four sensors that are new if anybody wants them. I purchased them before I found my bad connection. $200 for the set shipped.

Thanks. Mine has not worked since I bought it, I went under and they all looked good but i pushed them all tight anyways and now they work. I guess I should have tried that sooner.

I've got one that's unplugged, I tried to plug it in but it doesnt stay clicked in.

Havent had the chance to do the "2 person" method, but I will try soon as I can, the weather here in NY has been COLD so its not even an option at this point to try. Hopefully I can get it plugged in or at least zip tie it as mentioned and have it work :)

If not at least I have a feeling I know which sensor is bad (the unplugged one)

:)There is a diagnostic link in a similar thread using tag URPA, Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist.

If you can't find it, reply to my post here and I will get the email.

I can't figure out to get to my sensor in my '01 deville.

Take a look at this thread. It will show you how to short the diagnostic connector which is under the passenger seat drivers side. If you can't see it, you will have to remove the box cover where the URPA module sits.

Good Luck. I now know which of my sensors aren't working, but have yet to replace them.

whosurpopi, I would like to buy a sensor from you if you have one left. I can't PM you, because I may be spam, and can't figure out how to forward my message thru the forum gurus, because I'm not spam, and the process is arcane. If you are still watching this thread go ahead and email me -

How did these Ebay aftermarket rear sensors work for you. Is this the four set or is it just one? I was hesitant to buy this, because one of my original sensors is actually broken, an all I need is one to replace.

This is awesome - I have the same problem with my 04. They worked fine since I got it last August, but one day they mysteriously stopped about 2 or 3 months ago. It started working again once, then stopped again, and they haven't worked since.
I'm going to give this a try - sure would be nice if it was an easy fix for once!!
It's in getting the HVAC system fixed right now - it's defaulted to defrost.

My parking assist worked great for years with my reciever hitch attached. One day it stopped working . After a trip to the dealer and some embarrassment I discovered that the little black
plastic /rubber trailer ball cover that I bought this weekend to cover up my rusty ball was just enough to set it into non working mode. Trailer hitch is still attached minus the cover and everything
is back to normal.

Mine quit working too. Ill check the connections out tonight. I get a 4 beep alarm, and flashing red LED, when I put the car into reverse. I also have my rear brake lights that stay on when the headlight switch is on. If the switch is in the off position the brake lights work correctly.

I would bet you have a bad ground as that will cause the issue your having with the lights

The flashing red light means the park sensors have a trouble code in the system I can help with that

How do you find trouble codes CM?

How do you find trouble codes CM?

The module is under the second row passenger seat(short wheelbase Escalade only) the test mode harness is next to it

Jumper that and then put the truck in reverse(engine NOT running) and watch the display
It will flash like this
Outside red and outside amber
Codes
Outside red and outside amber

The test mode loops so it will give you more then one chance to get the codes
To clear the codes afterwards just remove the jumper and drive the truck up to at least 25mph

Get the codes and I will help out

I am also trying to diagnose this on a 2003 Escalade, there are 2 things under the rear passenger seat. One has a black bosch module with a blue plug and the other is just a multi-wire plug connector. I'm not sure what I am to jumper? And where am in reading the codes from once jumped? Thanks

The Bosch module should have a small two pin harness likely taped to the larger harness

Jumper it and shift the truck in reverse with the engine not running(just key in run position) it will display the codes then

There is nothing under my second row? I've got quad captains if that makes a difference?

Thanks for your reply.

the cadillac man

Do you have a Escalade esv?(or a ext?)

If so then it's in a different spot(same module just different location)

Standard Escalade has the module under the second row passenger seat(the test harness is very close to it)

CaddyEscalade
01-05-16, 07:57 PM
Ok I found it finally, it was under the carpet. Her is what the code I got. First both outside lights amber and red light up then the middle amber light flashes 4 times and then the a single red light on the right. Does that mean anything to you?

the cadillac man
01-06-16, 02:41 AM
You will need to check the reverse input wiring(likely on the harness panel under the right rear quarter panel) and the driver's side outboard sensor(swap the sensors around and see if the code fallows the sensor if so then it's a bad sensor)

Also make sure the harness is snug and tight at the module as sometimes a loose connection there can throw the reverse code

From my searching I have found some info but none that says what the 4 time flashing amber light is? I will try the easiest stuff first, but it's really messy outside where I live so I may end up waiting for better weather.

I have a wiring diagram for the sensors if you ever need it(just shoot me a pm with your email)

It's for the reverse input wiring(I think it means the signal wire from the transmission the tells the bcm to tell the sensors to turn on)

I will check my service manual to be 100% on that

CaddyEscalade
01-07-16, 05:05 PM
Doubtful it is that, just because when you put it in to reverse the red light flashes. So it senses the reverse input. Could it be as simple as a fuse? Where is the fuse for this located? Under dash or hood? If you find anything more from your manual please let me know. Thanks so much!

the cadillac man
01-07-16, 10:54 PM
Can't be the fuse as the sensors wouldn't work at all

I will check my manual in a bit and see if I can figure it out(could be a loose connection at the module)

CaddyEscalade
01-07-16, 11:04 PM
Ok great. I'll checked the connection to the bosh module under the rear seat and everything looked fine. Maybe I'll try unplugging and plugging back in. I also have an 06 EXT I could swap parts from to troubleshoot as well. Where is the module in the EXT? I could try swapping them To test the modules if they are prone to failure?

the cadillac man
01-09-16, 01:01 AM
My service manual shows the module under the rear seat in the ext

I have to ask is the relay working for the back up lights?

That's how the module gets turned on for the sensors to work

Bad relays will cause issues also (the back up lights kick on with the perimeter lighting at night so that's a easy check)

If they are working and the module still is throwing the code it may be a bad module(I have seen this before)

CaddyEscalade
01-09-16, 02:52 AM
backup lights are working yes. Funny thing is I also had a backup camera connected to my HU and it also stopped working, not sure if it was the same time or if it is related. I'll try swapping modules from the other caddy and post results. Thanks

the cadillac man
01-09-16, 11:18 AM

The back up can could be a bad connection
